Job summary

Colgate-Palmolive Company in Mumbai, India, seeks an accounting professional responsible for GL and bank reconciliations and intercompany transactions. You will ensure US GAAP compliance, maintain strong controls, and drive timely month-end closes across local and regional teams.

The role requires a commerce graduate with 2–5 years’ experience, SAP/MS Office proficiency, and ERP system knowledge. Relocation within India is supported; relocation within country is offered.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in accounting and reconciliations.
• Commerce Graduate with understanding of US GAAP and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts, Bank accounts and follow up on open items
• Ensure that all the accounting is in compliance with the US GAAPs
• Maintain controls to achieve high accuracy per internal guidelines
• Execute intercompany transactions
• Perform cash application and Netting for ICO customers/vendors
• Post journal entries accurately and timely
• Close books of accounts for month end
• Respond to audit queries promptly
• Engage with local/regional teams to align processes
• Move FI to PA module at month end during assessment cycles
• Adhere to SOPs and recommend changes with stakeholders
• Comply with SOX guidelines
• Participate in standardization and improvement initiatives
• Address queries from local business/regional teams

Role Summary/Purpose:

• Preparation of GL and Bank Reconciliations
• FI - PA Reconciliation
• Maintain ICO transactions
• Stakeholders Managerment
• Review and Maintain SOP’s

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts, Bank accounts and follow up on open items
• Ensure that all the accounting is in compliance with the US GAAPs
• Ensure the effective controls are maintained to achieve high accuracy as per the internal company guidelines
• Execute intercompany transactions
• Perform cash application and Netting process for ICO customers/ICO Vendors
• Ensure accurate working and posting of Rule based journal entries
• Perform the entire range of activities pertaining to closing books of accounts
• Review and timely resolution of all audit queries
• Engage with local teams and regional team to stay aligned on all the processes, resolve issues on timely basis
• Undertake assessment cycles for seamless movement from FI to PA module at month end
• Perform all accounting activities as per the defined SOPs
• Review the SOP periodically and recommend necessary changes as and when needed in consultation with relevant stake holders
• Perform all the compliances as per SOX guidelines
• Participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives as well as other business partner initiatives
• Ensure prompt response to queries of local business/regional team

Required Qualifications

• 2-5 Years
• Commerce Graduate

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of US GAAP
• Working knowledge of ERP system is a must
• SAP experience desired
• Working knowledge of MS Office
