About the Role

The AML Compliance Analyst supports the AML/ATF compliance framework of Opus by assisting with customer due diligence, investor and client file remediation, sanctions and politically exposed person screening, ongoing monitoring, record keeping, and the escalation of potential suspicious activity. The role is expected to help ensure that fund administration activities are conducted in accordance with internal policies, client service standards, and applicable Bermuda AML/ATF, sanctions and regulatory expectations.

The role operates within Bermuda’s AML/ATF framework applicable to regulated financial institutions, including expectations relating to risk-based customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, sanctions screening, ongoing monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, employee training and record keeping. The analyst is not expected to make final MLRO determinations but must identify, document and elevate matters accurately and promptly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the completion and maintenance of AML/KYC records for funds, investors, intermediaries and related parties.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in due diligence documentation and ensuring remediation actions are tracked through to completion.
  • Perform screening, adverse media checks and initial risk assessments in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Prepare clear file notes, exception logs and escalation summaries for review by senior compliance colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to audit‑ready AML/ATF files.
Duties
  • Review new investor, fund, client and intermediary onboarding files to confirm that required AML/KYC documentation has been received and is complete.
  • Verify identity and address documentation against approved standards, including passports, national identity documents, corporate records and proof of address documents.
  • Identify and record beneficial ownership and control information for legal entities, funds, partnerships, trusts and other relevant structures.
  • Conduct initial risk assessments using the firm’s approved client, investor or relationship risk assessment methodology.
  • Perform sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse media screening at onboarding and as part of periodic or event‑driven reviews.
  • Escalate potential screening matches, red flags, missing information, unusual activity or suspected policy breaches to the AML Compliance Manager, Deputy MLRO or MLRO.
  • Maintain a remediation tracker for incomplete, expired or deficient AML/KYC files and follow up with internal teams or client contacts as directed.
  • Assist with periodic reviews of investor and client files, ensuring reviews are completed according to the applicable risk‑based review cycle.
  • Prepare concise file notes explaining due diligence conclusions, outstanding issues, risk factors and recommended next steps.
  • Support enhanced due diligence reviews for higher‑risk relationships, including PEPs, complex ownership structures, high‑risk jurisdictions or other elevated‑risk factors.
  • Monitor assigned AML queues, shared mailboxes, workflow tools and compliance task lists to ensure matters are actioned within agreed service levels.
  • Assist with transaction or activity monitoring by identifying activity that appears inconsistent with known investor or client profiles and escalating concerns.
  • Maintain accurate AML/ATF records, correspondence, checklists, approvals and evidence in the firm’s document management or fund administration systems.
  • Support preparation of management information, compliance reports, internal testing samples and regulatory or audit evidence packs.
  • Complete mandatory AML/ATF, sanctions, data protection, confidentiality and conduct training within required deadlines and apply that training in daily work.
Key Skills & Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of AML/ATF, sanctions, customer due diligence and risk‑based compliance principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in documentation, names, dates, addresses and ownership records.
  • Good written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear file notes and escalation summaries.
  • Ability to manage multiple files, deadlines and follow‑up actions in a controlled manner.
  • Professional discretion when handling confidential investor, fund and client information.
  • Prior experience in fund administration, compliance, investor services, financial services operations or KYC remediation is desirable but not essential.
Conduct and Escalation Expectations

The AML Compliance Analyst must act with integrity, diligence and independence of judgment. The analyst must not override AML/KYC deficiencies, clear screening matches, suppress red flags or close remediation actions without appropriate approval. Any concern relating to suspected money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions exposure, proliferation financing, false documentation, misleading information or unusual investor activity must be escalated promptly through the firm’s internal reporting channels.
