Responsibilities

• Operate emergency or non-emergency vehicles using defensive driving techniques and adherence to traffic laws or authorized exemptions.
• Identify routes using maps or GPS while managing sirens and lights appropriately.
• Conduct pre- and post-shift checks of fuel, brakes, tires, lights, sirens, and communication systems.
• Work with medical staff to lift, move, and secure patients onto stretchers and carry them from accident or home scenes.
• Provide basic first aid, CPR, or oxygen within training scope (EMR/EMT).
• Observe patient vitals during transit and report changes to the lead paramedic.
• Uphold patient comfort, privacy, and emotional support under high-stress conditions.

Job description

• Safe Operation: Operate emergency or non-emergency vehicles using defensive driving techniques and adherence to traffic laws or authorized emergency exemptions. [1, 2, 3, 4]
• Route Planning: Identify and follow the fastest, safest routes using maps, GPS, or dispatch updates while managing sirens and lights appropriately. [1, 2]
• Vehicle Readiness: Conduct pre- and post-shift mechanical checks of fuel, brakes, tires, lights, sirens, and communication systems

• Assisting Paramedics/EMTs: Work closely with medical staff to lift, move, and secure patients onto stretchers and carry them from accident or home scenes. [1, 2, 3]
• Basic Medical Aid: Provide basic first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), or administer oxygen within the scope of their training (such as EMR or EMT certification). [1, 2, 3, 4]
