Job summary

Rehlko in Pune, India, seeks an Assistant Manager – Platform Lead to drive design and platform development for gas and diesel generator systems. You will manage CAD deliverables, BOMs, and support NPD with global engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
  • 8+ years of engineering experience at Assistant Manager level.
  • Strong understanding of generator systems and testing.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (CREO, CATIA) and PLM (Windchill) and SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Execute detailed mechanical design of generator assemblies, modules, kits, options, and accessories.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical systems, generator architecture, and production processes for robust designs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment and quality in generator set designs.
  • Apply working knowledge of SAP, CREO, CATIA, and Windchill in daily activities.
  • Support project timelines, budgets, and technical mentoring.

Job Title: Assistant Manager – Platform Lead
Department: Industrial Engineering – New Product Development
Reports To: Manager – Platform Lead

Collaborates With: Global Engineering, CAD, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams

Basic Function

Provide engineering support for the design, development, validation, and sustainment of gas and diesel generator systems throughout the product lifecycle. Responsible for managing CAD deliverables, creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs), and supporting New Product Development (NPD) initiatives. Collaborate with domestic and international engineering teams, and interface with global stakeholders including purchasing and manufacturing to select components and define manufacturing methods. Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to improve product cost, quality, manufacturability, and performance. Contribute to engineering capability development through standardization, knowledge sharing, process improvement, and technical mentoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute detailed mechanical design of generator assemblies, modules, kits, options, and accessories.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical systems, generator architecture, and production processes to ensure robust, scalable, and cost-effective designs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and cross-culturally to ensure alignment and quality in generator set designs.
  • Apply working knowledge ofSAP,CREO,CATIA, andWindchillin daily engineering activities.
  • Participate in NPD meetings to understand project scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets, and communicate relevant information to local teams.
  • Support Project Engineers and Analysts in delivering high-quality designs within project timelines with Quality work.
  • Demonstrate understanding of generator system architecture and testing experience to support first time right design.
Ownership Areas
  • Ensure thequality and completenessof CAD designs, engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Windchill deliverables.
  • Providetechnical and design supportto Project Engineers to enhance development capabilities.
  • Conductdesign reviews and analysis, recommendations for improvements and optimization.
  • Demonstrateaccountabilityfor both individual contributions and collaborative team deliverables.
  • Mentor and guide CAD team members, fostering skill development and promoting best practices in design workflows.
  • Driveefficiency improvementsin design processes, tools utilization, and documentation standards.
  • Fostertrust and effective working relationshipsacross business by engaging with cross-functional and global teams.
  • Championinnovation and continuous improvement.
  • Activelydemonstrate organizational values and performance expectations.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
  • Experience:
    • Assistant Manager : 8+ years
  • Strong understanding of generator systems (gas/diesel) and testing.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools ( CREO , CATIA ), PLM systems ( Windchill ), and ERP ( SAP ).
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Organized and effective in managing time and multiple projects.
