Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead Akeneo platform development, integration engineering, and data governance. You will design and implement scalable data models, build extensions, and support enterprise integrations with PIM, MDM, DAM, and ERP systems.

The role requires strong Java/Python skills, hands-on Akeneo experience, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure security, scalability, and quality across global product catalogs.

Qualifications

6+ years of software development experience.
2+ years of hands-on Akeneo PIM implementation, development, or administration.
Experience developing enterprise applications using Java and/or Python.
Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, and web services.
Experience using Git-based source control and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

Configure and maintain Akeneo entities (families, attributes, categories, channels, locales).
Design, build, test, and deploy Akeneo applications and extensions.
Design and develop integrations between Akeneo and ERP, DAM, MDM, and eCommerce platforms.
Execute product and asset data migration, validation, and governance.
Monitor platform health, perform root cause analysis, and support upgrades and performance improvements.
Collaborate with architects and leads to align with enterprise standards and mentor teammates.

Key Responsibilities

Akeneo Platform Development & Configuration

Configure and maintain Akeneo entities including product families, family variants, attributes, attribute groups, categories, channels, locales, asset families, and reference entities.
Develop and support business workflows, validation rules, enrichment processes, and governance controls.
Implement scalable product data models aligned with business and enterprise requirements.
Support user management, security roles, and access controls within the platform.

Application Development

Design, build, test, and deploy custom Akeneo applications, extensions, and automation solutions.
Develop reusable components and services to improve product onboarding, enrichment, and publishing processes.
Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices, security standards, and maintainable software design.

Integration Engineering

Design and develop integrations between Akeneo and enterprise platforms such as Product Information Management (PIM), Master Data Management (MDM), Supplier Data Management (SDM), Digital Asset Management (DAM), and eCommerce solutions.
Build and support REST APIs, event-driven integrations, and data synchronization frameworks.
Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues across upstream and downstream systems.

Data Management & Governance

Execute product and asset data migration activities.
Support import and export processes, data transformations, and validation frameworks.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance standards are maintained.
Collaborate with business and governance teams to define and implement data standards.

Operations & Support

Monitor platform health, integration pipelines, and automated jobs.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve production issues.
Support platform upgrades, releases, and performance optimization initiatives.
Create and maintain operational documentation, technical specifications, and support procedures.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Participate in Agile ceremonies and product delivery activities.
Work closely with architects and technical leads to ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on scalability, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
Mentor team members and share technical knowledge across the organization.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
6+ years of software development experience.
2+ years of hands-on experience with Akeneo PIM implementation, development, or administration.
Experience developing enterprise applications using Java and/or Python.
Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, and web services.
Experience using Git-based source control and modern software development practices.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

Experience with Akeneo SaaS or Akeneo Serenity editions.
Experience integrating Akeneo with MDM, DAM, ERP, Supplier Management, or eCommerce platforms.
Knowledge of AWS cloud services and event-driven architectures.
Understanding of product data modeling, data governance, and data quality management.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native application development.
Familiarity with Product Information Management (PIM) and Master Data Management (MDM) concepts.
Experience supporting large-scale global product catalogs and multilingual product content.
