Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Design Engineer – Propulsion to lead the development and optimization of our eVTOL propulsion systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electric propulsion, aerodynamic integration, and performance analysis. This role requires a deep understanding of electric motors, batteries, thermal management, and propulsion efficiency in aviation applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize propulsion systems for eVTOL aircraft, focusing on electric motor efficiency, thrust-to-weight ratio, and aerodynamic integration.
- Design and setup propulsion system including propeller.
- Perform computational simulations (CFD, FEA) to evaluate airflow, thermal effects, and propulsion efficiency.
- Develop and integrate electric propulsion architectures, including battery packs, inverters, and power distribution systems.
- Conduct propulsion system performance assessments, including thrust, efficiency, noise, and vibration analysis.
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, avionics, and structures teams to ensure optimal propulsion integration.
- Support hardware testing, prototype development, and validation of propulsion components in laboratory and real-world conditions.
- Assist in regulatory compliance and certification processes in alignment with DGCA and global aviation standards.
- Stay updated with advancements in electric propulsion, battery technology, and sustainable aviation to enhance Nalwa Aero’s competitive edge.
Essential Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s or Ph.D. preferred, especially in propulsion, electric aviation, or energy systems.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in aircraft propulsion design, preferably in electric or hybrid propulsion systems.
- Strong background in CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+), thermal analysis (COMSOL, MATLAB), and electric motor simulation (JMAG, Maxwell, Motor- CAD).
- Hands-on experience with propulsion system prototyping, testing, and validation.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in electric propulsion systems, including battery technology, motor design, and thermal management.
- Proficiency in propulsion modeling software and CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX) for system integration.
- Experience with power electronics, energy storage, and BMS (Battery Management Systems).
- Knowledge of aerodynamics, thrust-vectoring, and noise reduction techniques in propulsion design.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with eVTOL, UAV, or hybrid-electric aircraft propulsion.
- Familiarity with aviation safety standards (FAA, EASA, DGCA) and certification processes.
- Understanding of lightweight materials and advanced manufacturing for propulsion components.
