Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a software engineering professional to build polished prototypes from loosely defined ideas and demonstrate value to business leaders. You will package solutions, create compelling demos, and present outcomes to clients and internal teams.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

• Build working prototypes from loosely defined ideas, with enough polish for a business audience and enough substance for a technical one.
• Package existing firm solutions, including automation AI solutions from existing practices, into demonstrations and case stories using representative data.
• Present work to business leaders, internal teams and prospective clients in support of the pursuit lead.
• Run time-boxed proofs of concept with a defined question, a success criterion and a written recommendation.
• Build and maintain reusable scaffolding and demonstration environments so each prototype is faster to produce than the last.
• Hand off funded prototypes so another engineer can build them to production under platform standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years of hands-on experience building solutions with LLM APIs.
• Strong Python and full-stack prototyping skills, with the ability to rapidly build functional, user facing demonstrations using frameworks such as React or Streamlit.
• Solid Azure or AWS cloud fundamentals, including compute, storage, networking, identity, containers, and CI/CD, with the ability to independently stand up demonstration environments; relevant cloud certifications are a plus.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, authentication concepts, SQL, and application/system integrations.
• Broad understanding of the modern AI/GenAI stack, including RAG, agents and orchestration, tool calling, structured outputs, document processing, and vector search.
• Strong presentation, communication, and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences and translate requirements into compelling solutions.
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, short pursuit cycles; prior solutions engineering, pre sales, or innovation lab experience and familiarity with automation platforms such as UiPath or Power Automate are advantageous.
