Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior AI/ML Engineer to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions across complex business problems. You will own the full model lifecycle, build robust ML pipelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into AI-driven applications.

You will work on NLP/LLMs, Generative AI, and responsible AI practices, ensuring reliability and governance in enterprise-grade systems while advancing innovation in healthcare technology.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with NLP, LLMs, or Generative AI use cases.
• Experience building enterprise-grade AI systems with strong reliability and governance requirements.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or owning small modules/projects.
• Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark or Ray.
• Knowledge of Responsible AI practices including fairness, explainability, and bias mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable end-to-end AI/ML solutions for complex business problems.
• Own the full model lifecycle including data preparation, feature engineering, model development, evaluation, and production deployment.
• Build and optimize ML pipelines and workflows for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop advanced AI solutions using techniques such as NLP, deep learning, predictive modeling, and Generative AI.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to translate requirements into AI-driven solutions.
• Integrate AI/ML models into enterprise applications and production systems.
• Implement and manage MLOps practices including CI/CD, monitoring, retraining, and version control.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve model performance in production environments.
• Contribute to reusable frameworks, libraries, and engineering best practices.
• Communicate technical designs, trade-offs, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
• Stay updated with emerging AI/ML technologies and apply them to drive innovation.
