Complied AI is seeking an AI Engineer to join full-time, remote work from India. You will be deeply involved in building retrieval and grounding for document Q&A, ensuring answers are sourced from the correct sections of statutes and act with proper citations.
The role emphasizes practical building over advice, with emphasis on humility and correctness. Applicants will answer questions via a form or email hello@compliedai.com with subject Application · AI Engineer, include a CV and a note on why
Build section Q&A that answers from the source and knows when to stop.

The bar here is different from a general chatbot. An answer about the law has to stay tied to the provision it came from. A confident, fluent, wrong answer is the worst thing we can ship, because someone might act on it. So grounding, citing the exact section, and saying 'I am not certain, here is the text, read it yourself' matter more than sounding smart. We would rather return less and be right.
The work spans the whole loop. Chunking and indexing statutory text that is deeply nested and cross-referenced. Building retrieval that pulls the right section and its neighbours. Writing prompts that keep the model inside the source. And, the part most people skip, building the evaluation that tells you whether a change made answers better or just different. You would also help decide where models genuinely help and where a plain lookup is the honest answer.
You have probably shipped retrieval or document Q&A that real people relied on, and you have opinions about embeddings, context windows, and where the current tooling lies to you. You do not need to know Indian law. You do need to respect that being wrong here has a cost, and to build like it.
Full-time, remote (India), and paid. This is hands-on building, not advising from the sidelines.
No CV upload. A few questions about you, then a few about the work. Please answer each one. Or email hello@compliedai.com with subject Application · AI Engineer , your CV, and why you want to join Complied AI.

Describe a time you got a model to ground its answers in a source instead of making things up. What did you actually do?
Our Q&A has to answer from a specific section of an Act, not from general knowledge. How would you keep it from wandering off?
How do you evaluate whether an answer is correct when you are not the domain expert? What does your eval setup look like?
What is your honest read on where retrieval and long context are heading for document Q&A?
