Job summary

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Backend Engineer with 2-3 years of professional experience in Python backend development to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Python, experience with modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask, and hands-on experience with SQL, Kafka, and API integrations. The role requires excellent problem-solving skills, ownership, and a willingness to work on a night shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend applications using Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask).
• Provide technical support for production backend systems and troubleshoot application issues.
• Diagnose and resolve software bugs, configuration issues, and production incidents.
• Collaborate with the Customer Support team to investigate and resolve customer-reported issues.
• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs for frontend applications and third-party services.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to build efficient and reliable data models.
• Develop and maintain event-driven services using Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Stay updated with the latest backend technologies and continuously improve development practices.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of professional experience in Python backend development.
• Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Good understanding of Python programming, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming systems.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience with asynchronous programming using asyncio.
• Knowledge of caching technologies such as Redis.
• Experience with Linux-based environments.
• Comfortable using modern AI-powered coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar tools to improve engineering productivity.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted development workflows for faster implementation, debugging, testing, and code refactoring while maintaining high code quality and engineering standards.
• Experience working in a fast-paced development environment with a focus on rapid, high-quality feature delivery using modern developer tooling.
