Job summary

RWS TrainAI is seeking contributors for an Oriya (India) speech data collection project to support AI research and development. This freelance, work-from-home role offers flexible, task-based hours (about 2–4 hours daily) and immediate start.

You will record and annotate spontaneous Oriya speech, ensure quality metadata, and participate in real-life conversation tasks or voice interactions with AI systems. Prior experience helps, but is not required.

Qualifications

• Must be a native Oriya speaker with fluent reading and writing skills.
• Excellent English comprehension to follow instructions.
• Strong attention to detail when recording and annotating data.
• Experience in speech recording or annotation is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Record natural, spontaneous Oriya speech per project guidelines.

This short project offers an opportunity to evaluate and improve speech recognition and conversational AI technologies by providing spontaneous speech collected from real-life situations.

How Your Recordings Will Be Used

The collected recordings, annotations, and related metadata will be used to evaluate the spontaneous speech capabilities of speech-enabled AI models. The compiled data may be reviewed for quality and incorporated into datasets used for research, development, testing, and improvement of AI systems.

What You'll Do

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with the project guidelines.
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system.
• Annotate collected speech data according to the instructions provided.
• Provide the required information and metadata related to each recording.

What We're Looking For

• Native-level fluency in Oriya (India).
• Authentic pronunciation and strong familiarity with the target language through everyday use.
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Contributors must not imitate dialects or accents that are not their own.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage, but not required.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Ability to follow detailed project and recording instructions.
