Job summary

RWS is seeking AI Conversation Recording Contributors to join a remote, flexible, freelance Oriya (India) speech data collection project. You will record natural speech, annotate data, and provide metadata as part of early-stage AI development.

Start date is immediate and work is task-based (2–4 hours/day). Applicants should be native Oriya speakers with strong English comprehension and high attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Oriya (India).
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation is an advantage, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech per project guidelines.
• Capture speech from approved real-life situations (e.g., workplace conversations, casual discussions).
• Complete conversational speech tasks, or interact with AI/ machine-based systems.
• Annotate collected speech data according to provided instructions.
• Provide recording metadata and required information for each file.

This short project offers an opportunity to evaluate and improve speech recognition and conversational AI technologies by providing spontaneous speech collected from real-life situations.

How Your Recordings Will Be Used

The collected recordings, annotations, and related metadata will be used to evaluate the spontaneous speech capabilities of speech-enabled AI models. The compiled data may be reviewed for quality and incorporated into datasets used for research, development, testing, and improvement of AI systems.

What You’ll Do

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with the project guidelines
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system
• Annotate collected speech data according to the instructions provided
• Provide the required information and metadata related to each recording

What We’re Looking For

• Native-level fluency in Oriya (India)
• Authentic pronunciation and strong familiarity with the target language through everyday use
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions
• Contributors must not imitate dialects or accents that are not their own
• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage, but not required
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Ability to follow detailed project and recording instructions.
