Job summary

Barclays in Pune is seeking an AI & Cloud Engineer to design and deliver infrastructure and data products, blending software engineering with analytics to meet business requirements.

You will work with engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders on complex problems, applying Kubernetes, AWS, Python, and ML frameworks to build scalable, secure platforms.

Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud technologies and AI/ML workloads.
  • Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks.
  • Hands-on with ADK or similar agentic AI frameworks.
  • Experience training and fine-tuning language models.
  • Knowledge of IaaS scripting and cloud APIs.
  • Understanding of CI/CD processes.
  • Knowledge of parameter-efficient fine-tuning methods.
  • Experience with model quantization and optimization.

Job description

At Barclays, we don’t just adapt to the future – we shape it. Embark on a transformative journey as a Cloud Platform Engineer, where you’ll spearhead the delivery of the technology stack, using strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand the business requirements and deliver quality solutions coming up with the process design of the Foundational / Consolidated and Business data Products. You will be working on complex technical problems that will involve detailed analytical skills and analysis. This will be done in conjunction with fellow engineers, business analysts, and business stakeholders.

To be successful as a AI & Cloud Engineer, you should have experience with:
  • Proficiency in cloud technologies – Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Openshift.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
  • Hands‑on experience with Agent Development Kits (ADK) or similar agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, AutoGPT, CrewAI).
  • Proven experience in training and fine‑tuning language models.
  • Proficient in IaaS scripting – Terraform / Cloud Formation.
  • Ability to use the AWS service APIs, AWS CLI, and SDKs.
  • Hands on knowledge of CI/CD process.
  • Understanding of parameter‑efficient fine‑tuning methods (LoRA, QLoRA, Adapter layers, Prefix tuning).
  • Experience with model quantization, pruning, and optimization techniques.
Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include
  • A self‑starter with good communication & and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval systems.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of bash scripting and Linux OS.

The location of the role is Pune.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.

Accountabilities
  • Build Engineering: Development, delivery, and maintenance of high‑quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Including the identification of the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
  • Incident Management: Monitoring of IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use of data to drive down mean time to resolution.
  • Automation: Development and implementation of automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
  • Security: Implementation of a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber‑attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
  • Teamwork: Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data driven approach.
  • Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
