Job summary

Onecom is building an AI & Automation function within a fast-moving, high-autonomy team. You will own projects from brief to live system, shipping value in days. The stack includes Python, JavaScript, React, GCP, Vertex AI, LangChain, n8n, and Docker, with a focus on delivering real, deployable outcomes.

The role emphasizes prototyping over perfection, fast cycles, and ownership. Expect interoperability with CRMs, data warehouses, and enterprise tools, plus strong opportunities to craft scalable

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python and JavaScript with production-quality code.
• Hands-on experience with GCP services (Cloud Run, Functions, BigQuery, Vertex AI).
• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL/BigQuery in automation.
• Experience with automation and orchestration tools (n8n).
• Experience integrating AI/LLM services (Claude, Gemini, GPT).
• Frontend development using React/Next.js and API design (REST, OAuth2).

Responsibilities

• Define AI and automation workflows end-to-end from brief to live system.
• Build internal tools for Sales, CX, and Operations; create dashboards and AI-assisted workflows.
• Develop user-facing AI products with potential for commercialisation.
• Create and maintain backend services on GCP (Cloud Run, Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery).
• Develop frontend interfaces in React or Next.js and enable integrations with CRMs and data sources.

We're building a new AI & Automation function - a small, high-trust, high-autonomy team operating inside an established business. We move fast, build real things, and ship value in days, not weeks. Internal tools that prove their worth get packaged and sold as commercial products. Everything you build has a second life.

We're hiring two founding generalist engineers to help define how this team works and what it becomes.

What you'll build

• Agentic AI workflows using Claude, Gemini, LangChain/LangGraph

• Internal tools for Sales, CX, and Operations - dashboards, AI-assisted workflows, and process automation that make Onecom faster

• User-facing AI products that can be commercialised

• GCP-native backend services (Cloud Run, Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Vertex AI)

• Frontend interfaces in React or Next.js

• Integrations across CRMs, ticketing systems, data warehouses, and communication tools

• Custom enterprise solutions bespoke solutions for clients where standard products don’t fit

What makes you a great fit

You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but you should be competent across most of the stack and able to learn fast. You’ve built things end-to-end before. You can point to something live, explain your decisions, and be honest about what you’d improve. You think about failure modes, not just happy paths. Most importantly: you get things done.

Core Technical Skills

• Python and/or JavaScript — you can write clean, production-qual ity code

• GCP experience - hands on with CGP services (cloud run, Functions, BigQuery, Vertex AI, Firebase)

• SQL - comfortable writing and optimising queries against PostgreSQL, MySQL, or BigQuery as part of automation flows

• n8n — strong experience; our primary automation platform for orchestrating complex business logic across systems

• AI & LLM integration - you’ve shipped something real using Claude, Gemini, GPT, or equivalent

• Frontend development - React or Next.js for UI development

• API design & integration - REST, OAuth2, webhooks, event-driven systems

AI Specific Skills

• Prompt engineering — you can write and iterate production-quality prompts; familiar with chain-of-thought, few-shot examples, structured JSON output, and system/role prompt design

• AI output validation — you know how to build validation and fallback layers around LLM outputs before they hit downstream systems; you don't just call the API and trust the result

• AI security & governance — awareness of prompt injection risks, PII handling in AI pipelines, and output sanitisation; you think about what happens when things go wrong

• LLM API trade-offs — practical understanding of token limits, temperature, model selection, and when to use which model for wha
