Job summary

Iopex in Chennai, India is seeking a Junior AI / Automation Engineer to help scale our internal agent platform. You will build MCP servers using Claude Code, connect tools and APIs, and collaborate with IT/DevOps to secure access and secrets.

This role bridges AI tooling with infrastructure, requiring hands-on coding (Python/TypeScript), basic security concepts, and a strong collaborative mindset to keep our systems fast and reliable.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AI developer tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
• Understanding MCP concepts (Tools, Resources, Prompts) and how LLMs interact with external APIs.
• Proficient in Python or TypeScript/Node.js for REST APIs and JSON-RPC.
• Knowledge of API key management, environment variables, and basic IAM/OAuth security.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain MCP servers using Python/TypeScript.
• Integrate tools, APIs, databases, and services into the agent platform.
• Coordinate IT/DevOps to configure access controls and secrets safely.

About the Role:

We are scaling our agentic infrastructure and looking for a Junior AI / Automation Engineer to help
us build, connect, and secure our internal agent platform. In this role, you will work directly with AI
coding tools (specifically Claude Code) to rapidly prototype and build Model Context Protocol (MCP)
servers, connecting our agents to core internal APIs, databases, and third-party services.
Youll also act as the bridge between our AI initiatives and our IT/DevOps teams, setting up standard
access controls, key management, and permissioning setups to keep our infrastructure secure while
staying fast.

Key Responsibilities :

• Build & Maintain MCP Servers: Use Claude Code and lightweight frameworks
  (Python/TypeScript) to quickly build and iterate on MCP tools and resources for internal LLM
  agents.
  Agent Platform Integration: Connect custom tools, APIs, databases, and services into our
  developer workflow and agent platform environment.
  IT & DevOps Coordination: Partner with IT and DevOps to configure access permissions, API
  keys, IAM roles, and environment secrets safely for agent runtime environments.
  System Monitoring & Upkeep: Assist in debugging tool failures, monitoring MCP server
  uptime, and ensuring smooth agent-to-tool communication.
  Documentation & Safety: Maintain clean documentation on connected tools, endpoint
  schema, and environment permission setups.

Key Qualifications :

• AI Tooling & Coding Proficiency:Hands-on experience with modern AI developer tools (e.g.,
  Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot) to generate and debug code efficiently.
  MCP Protocol Familiarity:General understanding of Model Context Protocol (MCP) concepts
  (Tools, Resources, Prompts) and how LLMs interact with external APIs.
  Foundational Software Development: Comfortable writing Python or TypeScript/Node.js to
  handle REST APIs, JSON-RPC, and environment config files.
  Basic Infrastructure & Security Knowledge: Understanding of fundamental DevOps
  conceptsAPI key management, environment variables, standard IAM roles, and
  OAuth/bearer token authentication.
  Collaborative Mindset: Strong communication skills to coordinate with DevOps, IT, and engineering team members.
