Job summary

DEIC-L&T Precision Engineering & Systems IC seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead airframe design, oversee static and fatigue analyses, and ensure certification readiness for defense aerospace platforms in India.

The role requires a strong background in metallic and composite structures, FEA, and CAD tools with a track record of delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 10–15 years in aircraft structural design and analysis.
• Strong experience with large aircraft metallic and composite structures.
• Proficiency in FEA tools (NASTRAN / ANSYS / ABAQUS) and CAD (CATIA / NX).
• Familiarity with aviation certification processes and regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

• Own structural design for major airframe assembly and components.
• Lead teams performing static, fatigue, and damage-tolerance analysis.
• Review and approve stress reports, margins of safety, and design release packages.
• Ensure compliance to DGCA / CEMILAC requirements.
• Interface with certification agencies, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Drive weight optimisation, material selection, and structural trade studies.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and production-ready.
• Support ground and flight test programs, including test correlation.

Job Description

L&T is India’s biggest private company supplying defense equipment’s with over 40 years of experience in this field. Responsibilities:

• Own structural design for major airframe assembly and its components (fuselage, wing, empennage, control surfaces, associated tooling, fixtures and interfaces etc.)
• Lead teams performing static, fatigue, and damage-tolerance analysis
• Review and approve stress reports, margins of safety, and design release packages
• Ensure compliance to applicable DGCA / CEMILAC requirements
• Interface with certification agencies, customers, and internal stakeholders
• Drive weight optimisation, material selection, and structural trade studies
• Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and production-ready
• Support ground and flight test programs, including test correlation and issue resolution
• Build, mentor, and manage high-performing structural engineering teams

Required Qualification:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• 10–15 years experience in aircraft structural design and analysis
• Strong experience with large aircraft metallic and composite structures
• Proficiency in FEA tools (NASTRAN / ANSYS / ABAQUS) and CAD (CATIA / NX)
• Solid understanding of fatigue, damage tolerance, fail-safe design principles
• Experience supporting certification or military clearance programs
• Proven ability to lead teams and deliver under schedule and cost pressure
• Experience on large UAV and manned platforms
• Exposure to Indian or global aerospace OEM / Tier-1 programs
• Familiarity with AS9100, manufacturing processes, and supply-chain integration
• Experience working with Indian certification agencies and customers
• Strong technical judgement and decision-making
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ownership mindset and execution focus
