Job summary

Novo Nordisk Engineering (NNE) seeks an Advanced Data Engineer for Global IT in Bengaluru to shape, develop and scale data platforms, leveraging Azure-based solutions. The role sits in a cross-functional team of data engineers, analysts, architects and SMEs in a 50+ strong Global IT group.

You will influence design, improve standards and ensure reliable, scalable data products. You will mentor colleagues, contribute to solution design, and collaborate with stakeholders to maximize the value of

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure data services.
  • Strong data governance and scalable data pipelines.
  • Mentoring junior data engineers and reviewing designs.
  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Microsoft Fabric is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain data platform infrastructure in Microsoft Fabric.
  • Design ETL/ELT processes & build data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to maximise data value.
  • Drive best practices for data quality, observability and governance.

About The Role

As an Advanced Data Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping,developing and scaling the data platforms and solutions that transform howengineering data is used across pharma projects. A few years ago, NNE embarkedon a new data journey to build an Azure-based data platform, and as thedependency on trusted, governed and reusable data continues to grow, we arelooking for a senior-level data engineering profile to help take ourcapabilities to the next level. You will become part of a strong team withinNNE Global IT of 50+ employees and work in a cross-department data platformteam with data engineers, data analysts, architects and subject-matter experts.In this role, you will be expected to contribute beyond delivery by influencingsolution design, improving engineering standards, mentoring colleagues andensuring that data solutions are scalable, reliable and aligned with businessneeds.

How You Might Spend Your Days

As a Data Engineer, you’ll:

  • Maintain NNE’s data platforminfrastructure in Microsoft Fabric
  • Help with data storage,processing and data modelling.
  • Design ETL/ELT processes &build data pipelines
  • Collaborate with businessstakeholders to help them get the most of their data
  • Communicate how data can beused in new ways within NNE
  • Prioritizesupport for operational tasks
  • Spendremaining time on development tasks.
  • Design scalable, secure and maintainable data architecture patterns using Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, lakehouse concepts and modern data engineering practices.
  • Drive best practices for data quality, observability, performance tuning, metadata management, lineage, access control and lifecycle management across data products.
  • Build reusable frameworks, templates and automation that improve reliability, reduce operational effort and accelerate delivery for the wider data platform team.
  • Support DevOps ways of working by implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, version control and deployment standards for data solutions.

In all positions there are some things that are needed, and others a bonus. We believe thesequalifications are needed for you to do well in this role:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degreein relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience withindata engineering
  • Experience with SQL and Python
  • Experience with ETL/ELTprocesses
  • Hands-on experience with Azureservices such as Azure Synapse Analytics and/or in Microsoft Fabric willbe considered a plus.
  • Prior working knowledge inAzure DevOps will be considered a plus
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and operating production-grade data pipelines, Lakehouse/warehouse solutions and data models at enterprise scale.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Fabric capabilities such as OneLake, Data Factory, Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, Power BI semantic models, security and governance will be a strong advantage.
  • Experience with data governance, data cataloguing, data lineage, data quality frameworks, monitoring and operational support for critical data products.
  • Experience mentoring junior data engineers, reviewing solution designs and contributing to technical roadmaps will be considered a plus.
