Job summary

Commonwealth Bank in Bengaluru is seeking an Advanced Analytics Analyst to join the Market Data Core. You will work with data from vendors, validate and publish market insights across Fixed Income, FX, Commodities and Equity products.

The role requires 4+ years in market data or financial data operations, strong SQL and Python skills, advanced Excel, and the ability to collaborate with traders and other teams. You will contribute to data quality, automation, and risk reporting.

Qualifications

• Collaborate on FRTB, Basel 3 projects and help prepare APRA/audit documentation.
• Manage changes on platforms and perform regression testing end-to-end.
• Collaborate on simplification and automation of existing processes.

Impact & Contribution

You will join CommBank's Market Data Core focused on delivering actionable market insights & data through a process of collection, validation and publication across a range of Fixed Income, Commodities, FX, Equities and other financial market products. This function is responsible for Market Data management on behalf of the Group to enhance decision making which will positively affect our customers.

You will collaborate with Traders, Quants, Treasury and Front-Office IB&M colleagues and provide support which is designed to help calculate and evaluate market and credit risk across a broad suite of Fixed Income, FX, Commodities and Equity products.

This is a technical and business all-round role, required to both process and use analytical methods to evaluate market models & modelling, and where necessary, troubleshoot or elevate them. This team delivers data to support market trading while also managing data quality controls over various products used for financial risk reporting. It is a great role to get exposure to market products, data and insights across multiple regions, geographies and areas of CommBank's business.

Roles & responsibilities

• Collect market data from different vendors and sources such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ASX, validate and review exceptions on market data sets from different End of Day snaps.
• Work with Projects and other regulatory/market changes.
• Maintain historical time series Data quality in our time series system
• Collaborate in FRTB, Basel 3 Project work and help prepare documentation for APRA and Audits.
• Manage change on various platforms as well as regression testing through the end-to-end product workflow including GoldenSource, Beacon and other Market applications.
• Collaborate on the simplification and automation of existing processes.

Essential skills

• 4+ years of experience
• Foundational knowledge in market data, trading, risk or financial data operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting, and basic data analysis functions.
• Sound knowledge of SQL for querying, validating, extracting, and reconciling data from structured databases.
• Sound knowledge of Python to support scalable, automated, and sustainable data solutions.
• Ability to use AI and analytics tools effectively, including writing clear prompts to support research, data analysis, issue investigation, and process improvement.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify data inconsistencies and quality issues.
• Demonstrated ownership mindset, taking accountability for tasks through to resolution.
• Curious and proactive learner with the ability to quickly build understanding of market data concepts and systems
• Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate issues and impacts to a range of stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder awareness, understanding the downstream impact of data on trading, risk, and reporting.
