The company is moving towards more and more IT-Digital based solutions to remain competitive in today’s data driven economy. The way of life has undergone a radical change with respect to technology adoption and thus the business too.
Under such scenario, role of an IT head has become more important. The position now demands:
- Enabling continuous on time delivery of integrated (IT and Digital) Solutions to the unit as per Business Requirement.
- Providing strategic and tactical planning to adopt technological change in IT.
- Managing and maintaining all required IT infrastructure conducive to Business Operation.
- Coordination, facilitation Information Technology initiatives by exploring and choosing new technology in judicious manner to assist business to achieve its KPI.
- Ensuring compliance with set information systems standards.
- Maintaining cross functional liaison for smooth execution of strategic plans to optimize the use of information technology in support of organization’s business objectives.
- Making people aware of information security and implementing ISO Standard on Information security in the unit.
- Adhering and reviewing SLA on regular basis.
- Planning and Monitoring and managing IT budget and thereby cost.
- Coordinating and collaborating with Corporate IT / Group IT / Other unit IT for trouble shoot or deliver new solution to business as and when required. Act as One IT team.
- Proactively identifying IT risks and mitigate accordingly.
- Adhering to Unit safety, legal and other statutory norms along with making team to adhere to the same.
- Ensuring team’s development by identifying training need, releasing them in planned manner without hampering support / delivery to business users.
Job Challenges
- Align IT with business goals by controlling IT costs and increase efficiencies.
- Develop IT plans to support business objectives. This entails cross-functional coordination and collaboration.
- Acquisition and integration of new systems with the existing applications. Head of IT needs to exhibit excellent technical, people management skills while doing this.
- Ensure data security and integrity across functions in the unit. This requires cross functional interaction and influencing skill.
- Have adequate bandwidth to own the rollout of Corporate initiatives on enterprise technologies at units (e.g. ERP, Integration with other applications, CRM, Messaging, RFID, Security improvement initiatives, infrastructure standardization etc).
- Skill management of unit IT resource. The challenge will be upskilling of existing resource.
KRA1: Safety (S1)
- Personally follow all safety rules.
- Emphasize Safety in day to day working and create awareness in the team members.
- Ensure meeting the Safety Target set by Business Units.
KRA2: Sustainability (S1) & Cost (C1)
- Plan and Monitor Capex.
- Ensure on-time completion.
- Monitor and manage RnM cost.
- Track Cash Flow as per budget.
- Identify, initiate and implement on Cost Saving Projects.
- Manage E-Waste and ensure proper Disposal and Manage certificates and associated compliances.
KRA3: Customer Centricity (C2)
- Increase interaction with Customer.
- Ensure availability of Basic Infra to the Business.
- Ensure on time quality delivery of solution.
- Ask feedback from customer for each and every initiative / delivery.
KRA4: Systems / Organization / Process / Governance (S2)
- Ensure Smooth performance of existing Setup and Solution w.r.t Infrastructure, ERP, Custom/Home Grown Applications, Digital Projects, IT-Digital interface, Information Security Management System.
KRA5: Projects / Technology Uplift
- Explore new technology to assist business to achieve its KPI.
- Assist Group / Corporate team to implement / commissioning projects as applicable.
KRA6: People (S2)
- Training need identification.
- Course assignment.
- Project Assignment.
- Tracking Training Effectivity.
