Job summary

Alike Thoughts is seeking an experienced Active Directory Migration Engineer to lead enterprise identity consolidation projects across Pune and Mumbai. You will design, test, and implement AD migration strategies, ensuring zero-downtime transitions and data integrity.

The role requires deep expertise in Windows Server, AD DS, PowerShell automation, and ADMT/Quest tooling, with experience across intraforest and cross-forest migrations and security compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security, or equivalent.
• 8-12 years of enterprise-scale Active Directory administration and migration experience.
• Experience with intraforest and cross-forest migrations and domain consolidations.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, test, and implement Active Directory migration strategies (intraforest, crossforest, domain consolidations, greenfield deployments).
• Configure and operate enterprise migration tools (Quest Migration Manager, Migrator Pro, Binary Tree, Microsoft ADMT).
• Manage FSMO role transfers, domain controller lifecycle, and post-migration cleanup.
• Execute Windows Server OS upgrades/migrations (2012R2-2025) while preserving permissions and data integrity.
• Maintain and optimize AD DS, GPOs, OU structures, Sites & Services.
• Troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, replication topologies, PKI/Certificate Services.
• Configure and manage forest/domain trusts across environments.
• Enforce security baselines, TLS standards, cryptographic policies.
• Manage sIDHistory remediation and access control translation.
• Perform health checks using dcdiag, repadmin, DFSR SYSVOL verification.
• Produce SOPs, rollback plans, architectural diagrams.
• Coordinate with network, security, and cloud engineering teams for compatibility.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

Migration Strategy & Execution

• Design, plan, test, and implement Active Directory migration strategies (intraforest, crossforest, domain consolidations, greenfield deployments).

Technical Proficiencies

• Deep expertise in Windows Server 2012R2-2025.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting for automation (MoveADDirectoryServerOperationMasterRole, SetADForestMode).
• Handson with Quest Software suites, Directory Sync Pro, ADMT.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure AD, Azure AD Connect, Cloud Sync.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset under timesensitive deployments.
• Excellent communication skills to convey risks and solutions to stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently during maintenance windows (night/weekend).
