SkySun's Mohali-based India operations center is hiring an Accounting Manager to own the books for two US entities. This hands‑on role starts with month‑end close, reconciliations, and system cleanups, then expands to building and leading the India accounting team.

You will work directly with US leadership, manage intercompany entries, and ensure GAAP compliance while coordinating with lenders and auditors. The position is onsite in Mohali with US hours.

About Us

You will be employed by SkySun, our India operations center in Mohali. We are a US-based company in solar sales and installation, operating in California, Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Illinois. We also have a second company now being ramped up, an electrical service and sales company. You will work directly with US leadership and own the accounting for both companies.

The Role

We are hiring an Accounting Manager to take full ownership of the books for our two US companies. You will be the senior-most accountant on the team. For the first 12 to 24 months this is a hands‑on role: you do the reconciliations, the cleanup, and the month‑end close yourself, with a small support team assisting you. You will recommend how transactions should be treated, document it, and stand behind the numbers that go to ownership, lenders, and our US CPA firm. Once the books are clean and closing on schedule, you will build the India accounting team around you. If you are looking for a purely supervisory seat, this is not it. If you want to build a US accounting function from the inside and grow with it, this role is the right fit for you.

Your First 12 Months

• Bring historical periods in Xero current: Clear the backlog, reconcile every balance sheet account, and tie the receivables aging to project records.
• Plan and lead the move from Xero to QuickBooks Online: Chart of accounts mapping, opening balances, open receivables and payables, a cutover date, and a tie‑out proving both systems agree.
• Set up the books for our second company in QuickBooks from its first transaction: Include the sync from ServiceTitan, its field service system.
• Establish a monthly close calendar for both companies: Set a fixed close date, and document each process as an SOP.

What You Will Do

• Own the month‑end close for each US company: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and close checklist management.
• Perform bank, credit card, and payment platform reconciliations across multiple accounts.
• Manage invoicing and accounts receivable, including reconciliation of financing partner payments, deductions, and clawbacks against project records.
• Manage accounts payable workflows: vendor bills, approvals, and preparing payment runs for US approval.
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions between the two US companies and with international entities, including shared staff and shared cost allocations.
• Book payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll reports to the general ledger.
• Deliver accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for each company by a fixed close date.
• Support external accountants and lenders during reviews, audits, and due diligence.
• Direct the support staff assisting you today, and hire, train, and manage junior accountants as the team grows.

What You Bring

• 7 to 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 4 years working on US client books at an outsourced accounting, KPO, or offshore staffing firm, or in a US-facing GCC finance team.
• End‑to‑end ownership of the books for US clients, with hands‑on experience in each function: payroll, bookkeeping, invoicing, AR, AP, and reconciliations.
• Hands‑on QuickBooks Online experience on US client books.
• Experience keeping books for more than one related entity at the same time: intercompany entries, due to and due from balances, shared cost allocations.
• A cleanup or catch‑up project you personally completed: a multi‑month backlog, balance sheet reconciliation, or receivables cleanup.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP and the full accounting cycle on an accrual basis.
• Demonstrated ownership of month‑end close, not just participation in it.
• A working manager’s mindset: you stay hands‑on in the daily work while developing the team around you.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills: pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation workpapers.
• Strong written and spoken English; comfortable communicating directly with US management and outside CPAs.
• Willingness to work night shift aligned to US business hours.
• B.Com or M.Com required; CA Inter, CMA, MBA (Finance), or CPA/EA in progress is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with solar, construction, contracting, electrical, or home services businesses (job costing, project-level P&L).
• Experience moving a set of books from one accounting system to another.
• Working knowledge of Xero, where our historical records live.
• Experience with ServiceTitan or another field service system syncing to QuickBooks.
• Familiarity with Gusto, Bill.com, Wise, or similar US finance tools.
• Experience building processes or teams from an early stage.

Growth Path

This role is hands‑on for the first 12 to 24 months. After that, as the India accounting team expands, it is designed to grow into Senior Accounting Manager, based on performance. You will report to US senior leadership.
