Innovaccer is seeking an engineer to build AI-native finance systems that automate data pipelines, integrations, and decision-making. This is a hands-on build role, not a finance systems, not a dashboard job; you’ll own end-to-end stack from data sources to AI layer and will race to production with real business impact.

You’ll work directly with the Head of Strategic Finance and CFO’s office, deciding how things get built, when to code versus use tools, and when to apply an LLM.

About the Role

Every finance team runs on spreadsheets, tribal knowledge, and manual reconciliation between systems that were never meant to talk to each other. We think that's about to change - and we want the engineer who builds that change here first. This isn't a "finance systems" role. It's not reporting, it's not maintaining dashboards, and it's not writing SQL for someone else's requirements doc. This is a build role for someone who wants to take a real, high-stakes function - the one that runs the company's numbers, forecasts, and capital decisions - and rebuild it from the ground up as a set of intelligent, autonomous systems. You'll have direct access to the Head of Strategic Finance, the CFO's office, and full latitude to decide how things get built. If you've ever looked at a finance team drowning in manual work and thought "this should just be automated," this is the job where you get to prove it - with real production systems, real business impact, and a leadership team that will move out of your way.

A Day in the Life

Sit inside the finance function, understand how it actually works - not the theory, the real mess of systems, spreadsheets, close cycles, and judgment calls - and figure out what should never require a human again. Design and build autonomous agents that pull data from multiple systems, reason over it, and produce decision-ready output - not static reports, but systems that plan, check their own work, and flag what actually needs a human. Own the full stack: data pipelines, integrations across ERP/CRM/finance systems, orchestration logic, and the AI layer that sits on top of all of it. Make sharp build-vs-buy calls - know when to write code, when to use an existing tool, and when to reach for an LLM instead of a rules engine. Ship fast, in production, with real users depending on your systems for actual financial decisions - not prototypes that live in a demo forever. Be the person who defines what "AI-native finance" even means at Innovaccer, because right now, nobody has done it yet.

What You Need

You've built AI agents before. Not called an API and wrapped a chat UI around it - actually designed multi-step, tool-using, autonomous or semi-autonomous systems that do real work with minimal human babysitting. You're a strong engineer, full stop. Solid computer science fundamentals, clean system design instincts, and the ability to take ambiguous problems and turn them into working software without a spec handed to you. You're comfortable with the modern AI toolchain - LLM APIs, agentic frameworks, coding assistants (Claude, Codex, and similar), prompt and context engineering, evaluation and guardrails. You know the difference between a cool demo and something that's reliable enough to run a business process. You're genuinely curious about how a business runs. You don't need a finance background - you need the instinct to walk into an unfamiliar domain, ask sharp questions, and quickly figure out the actual workflow before you write a line of code. You default to automation. When you see a repetitive process, your first thought is "why is a human doing this," not "let me build a dashboard so a human can do it faster." You can work with ambiguity and incomplete requirements. This function is being invented in real time - you'll often be defining the problem, not just solving it.
