Job summary

Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) in Clontarf invites applications for a Young Adult Support Worker on a 32 hour, 12 month specified purpose contract. You will help School Leaver Service participants with physical disabilities access activities and develop personal goals in a community-based setting.

You will deliver group workshops and personal development activities, assist with transport and daily living tasks, and safeguard participants in line with IWA policies.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 Major Award (8 Modules) Care Support is essential.
• Health Service Skills qualifications including safety at work.
• Care Skills and Health Care Support experience.
• Youth Work qualification (any minor component).
• Full Category B driving license is required.

Responsibilities

• Support workshops and activities for young adults based on choices and needs.
• Assist individuals in line with person-centred approach and Personal Goals work.
• Support young adults in Rehabilitative Training activities.
• Assist with safe transportation in line with Transport Handbook guidelines.
• Assist young adults in personal care and daily living as identified.
• Accompany and support young adults on outings, social trips and holidays.
• Prepare and maintain records for Service Manager/Support Officers.
• Undertake training as directed by the Service Manager/Support Officers.
