Job summary

Rockwell are seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to support the Workshop Manager in the day-to-day running and coordination of our mechanical workshop. This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our headquarters in Co. Cork.

The Foreman will coordinate mechanical fabrication, pipework and assembly activities, read and interpret engineering drawings, and lead a safety- and quality-focused workshop team to meet production targets.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in mechanical, pipefitting or fabrication works with supervisory exposure.
  • Level 6 QQI Certificate or equivalent trade qualification in related mechanical discipline.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and isometrics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Workshop Manager with day-to-day running and coordination of the workshop.
  • Coordinate and allocate work to workshop personnel to ensure safety, efficiency and on-schedule delivery.
  • Lead and support the workshop team, providing technical guidance when required.

Job description

Rockwell are seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to support the Workshop Manager in the day-to-day running and coordination of our mechanical workshop. This is a permanent, full-time position based out of our headquarters in Co. Cork

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the Workshop Manager with the day-to-day running and coordination of the workshop.
  • Coordinate and allocate work to workshop personnel, ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
  • Lead and support the workshop team, providing technical guidance and assistance where required.
  • Coordinate mechanical fabrication, pipework and assembly activities.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and isometrics.
  • Monitor job progress and communicate updates, issues and requirements to the Workshop Manager.
  • Ensure all work meets required quality, safety and customer standards.
  • Ensure the correct use, maintenance and availability of tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
  • Assist with materials planning and resolving technical or production issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve workshop productivity and efficiency.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Experience
  • 10+ years' experience in mechanical, pipefitting or fabrication works, with a minimum of 3 years in a Foreman, Chargehand or Supervisory role.
  • Level 6 QQI Certificate in Mechanical Craft Practice or equivalent trade qualification in plumbing, pipefitting, fabrication or mechanical engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge and practical experience in mechanical fabrication and pipework, including carbon and stainless steel.
  • Proven experience leading and coordinating a workshop team in a safety and quality-focused environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and isometrics.
