Job summary

AECOM's Water team in Cork invites civil engineering students to join for an industrial placement, offering exposure to hydraulic modelling, sustainable drainage systems and mains infrastructure design. You will work with experienced engineers to develop skills through calculations, report writing and use of engineering software, across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Responsibilities include numerical analysis, feasibility studies, structural design, and contributing to project delivery

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Pursuing an MSc/MEng in Civil, Structural or Water Engineering would be advantageous
• Water-related modules are beneficial
• Demonstrates enthusiasm, hard-work, and technical proficiency
• Good report writing and communication skills
• Ability to structure and prioritise work with the team
• Able to work independently without losing initiative

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis using computer-based programmes for potable, surface and wastewater systems
• Conduct technical and feasibility studies for alternative solutions in potable, foul, surface water and attenuation
• Perform structural analysis and design including load cases and use of analysis software
• Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and pipe networks with safety in design considerations
• Create sketches and review final working drawings produced by Technicians
• Collaborate with team members on technical work, site activities and project management
