Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse operations within a fast-paced environment
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Lead, train, and develop a team of yard staff ensuring high levels of engagement and performance
- Maintain health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with all regulations
- Manage inventory accuracy, stock control, and warehouse organisation
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and reduce waste
- Work closely with other departments such as transport and customer service teams to ensure smooth logistics operations
- Analyse operational data to drive improvements and report key performance metrics
- Coordinate the movement of materials within the yard, ensuring proper storage and organization
- Oversee shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery
- Utilize forklifts and other equipment to safely load and unload materials
- Perform any other tasks which may be assigned by management from time to time
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager ideally within the building material distribution industry
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of team development
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems and stock control processes
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to drive performance improvements and implement process enhancements
