Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily warehouse operations within a fast-paced environment
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
• Lead, train, and develop a team of yard staff ensuring high levels of engagement and performance
• Maintain health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with all regulations
• Manage inventory accuracy, stock control, and warehouse organisation
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and reduce waste
• Work closely with other departments such as transport and customer service teams to ensure smooth logistics operations
• Analyse operational data to drive improvements and report key performance metrics
• Coordinate the movement of materials within the yard, ensuring proper storage and organization
• Oversee shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery
• Utilize forklifts and other equipment to safely load and unload materials
• Perform any other tasks which may be assigned by management from time to time

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager ideally within the building material distribution industry
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of team development
• Knowledge of warehouse management systems and stock control processes
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced setting
• Ability to drive performance improvements and implement process enhancements
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proven experience in set up and launch of a new distribution hub
