The Role:
Avolon is appointing a VP Technical – Asset Management reporting directly to the SVP & Senior Manager - Asset Management. The primary focus of role is to ensure technical oversight of all Avolon’s on-lease assets.
Role Responsibilities:
- Work effectively within the Asset Management Team to maintain the technical accuracy and integrity of all portfolio assets.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments such as Transaction Structuring, Origination, Risk and Lease Management, to support technical activities associated with on-lease aircraft.
- Manage relationships with lessee technical departments.
- Review and manage lessee requests requiring technical assessment, including maintenance reserve reimbursements, EOLA and obligation compliance, and modifications.
- Review, manage and maintain aircraft records to Avolon standards.
- Assist all trading activity as required, including due diligence query management and specification reviews.
- Coordinate Avolon’s on-lease inspection programme.
- Coordinate external stakeholders, suppliers and customers, always being mindful of longer term relationships.
- Perform lease reviews as required to support the above functions.
- Develop portfolio-level insights from asset data, technical trends and reporting outputs to support decision-making across the business.
- Provide technical knowledge support to the wider business.
- Develop the processes and systems utilised in the Technical team to ensure the highest quality output.
- Represent Avolon externally as required, building market knowledge and maintaining a strong industry network.
- Willingness to travel to meet operational needs.
The Person:
You will be a confident, commercially aware and technically credible Asset Manager who can take ownership of assigned aircraft and influence outcomes through sound judgement. You will be comfortable engaging directly with airline engineering teams, internal stakeholders and external suppliers. You will be able to translate complex technical matters into clear recommendations, balance technical and commercial priorities, and act with integrity, independence and accountability.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Engineering Honours Degree and/or an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License (AMEL).
- A minimum of five years airline, MRO or leasing experience within a technical function.
- Fluency in an Asia-Pacific language is preferable.
- Experience in aircraft trading and/or transition management a strong advantage.
- Highly proficient with Aircraft Technical Records.
- Ability to interpret legal terms relating to technical covenants of lease agreements.
- Highly motivated self-starter who brings original thought, challenge and innovation to solving problems.
- Excellent commercial awareness and stakeholder identification skills, with the ability to assess technical issues in the context of asset value, lessee obligations and transaction outcomes and relay with confidence to the relevant for maximum impact.
- Ability to distil complex messages into key takeaways to support management decision making, summarising findings with impact, putting forward compelling arguments and rationales to all levels and audiences within Avolon and the industry.
- Strong decision-making capability, with the ability to assess complex technical and commercial information, exercise sound judgement and make clear recommendations.
- Direct, effective, and engaging communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
