Job summary

Barden | B Corp in Cork is partnering with a large multinational manufacturer to recruit a VAT Accountant for the indirect tax team. The role covers VAT and indirect tax across multiple jurisdictions, ledger management, balance sheet and period-end close, and ERP troubleshooting within a central shared service centre.

You should be a qualified accountant or tax consultant with multinational experience or exposure from an accounting firm, and be comfortable with ERP systems such as Oracle

• Strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Support VAT and indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

• Resolve day-to-day system and process issues with IT and other teams.
• Liaise with auditors and tax authorities as a key contact.
• Improve processes and controls as the function evolves.

Their Cork shared service centre plays a genuinely central role in the group's global finance operations, and it's an exciting time to join as they push further into digitalisation and modernise how the function works.

About the role

The VAT Accountant will join a small, close-knit and experienced team. It's a broad, business-facing role with VAT and indirect tax at its core, alongside ledger management, balance sheet and system reconciliations, period-end close, and ERP troubleshooting. It's a great fit for someone who wants their VAT expertise to plug into the wider business.

Responsibilities

• Support the VAT and indirect tax compliance process across multiple jurisdictions
• Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including reconciliations and reporting
• Help resolve day-to-day system and process issues, working closely with IT and other teams
• Build strong working relationships with auditors and tax authorities as a key point of contact
• Get involved in improving processes and controls as the function continues to evolve

About you

• Qualified accountant or tax consultant
• Ideally some multinational experience or hands on experience from an accounting firm
• Comfortable with ERP systems (Oracle Financials or similar); strong Excel skills is an advantage
• A "solutionist" mindset - curious, keen to connect the dots rather than just process transactions
• Initiative and enthusiasm, with genuine interest in getting closer to the wider business
