Job summary

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Co is seeking a UX Designer to craft engaging digital experiences for students and educators. You’ll work in a cross-functional team to concept and develop products that are delightful and accessible, drawing on a strong portfolio and UX research to inform decisions.

You will contribute from early sketches to high-fidelity prototypes, collaborating with engineers and other stakeholders to deliver intuitive educational solutions and improve user outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in UX Design, HCI, interaction design, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience as a UX designer.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating UX process and product design.
• Experience in cross-functional teams and agile software development lifecycle.
• Understanding of UX research methods.
• Proficient in visual design tools: Figma, Sketch, Mural, Adobe Suite.

Responsibilities

• Be the voice of the user and focus on the right problems and value for users.
• Create digital design solutions that are delightful and frictionless to use.
• Plan and facilitate workshops with cross-functional teams.
• Create experience maps, storyboards, user scenarios, wireframes, mockups, and flows for rapid testing.
• Validate ideas using accessibility and UX research best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Own user experiences from low-fidelity to hi-fidelity designs.
• Communicate detailed design specifications to engineers.
• Stay updated on design trends and draw inspiration from related fields.
