Job summary

Veolia Ireland is seeking a Utilities Maintenance Reliability & Scheduling Lead to manage end-to-end maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution at Blanchardstown site, driving asset reliability through data analysis and root cause investigation.

You will coordinate technicians and vendors, lead continuous improvement, ensure safety compliance, and align maintenance with client and regulatory requirements to sustain high-performance operations.

Qualifications

  • Third level qualification or equivalent in maintenance management, reliability, or industrial engineering.
  • Experience with CMMS, planning, scheduling and analytics.
  • Knowledge of RAMS/COHE and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily and weekly scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance activities using the site CMMS. Develop, prioritize, and communicate maintenance plans to optimize labour, equipment access, and operational continuity.
  • Coordinate and plan equipment shutdowns, isolation points, and handovers to minimize disruptions for end users.
  • Monitor and manage the utilities helpdesk and ensure timely responses.
  • Lead root cause analysis for chronic failures and drive reliability-focused improvements.
  • Review KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance team.
  • Ensure compliance with RAMS, COHE, and safety standards in all activities.

Utilities Maintenance Reliability & Scheduling Lead

Overview of the role;

The Utilities Maintenance Reliability & Scheduling Lead oversees the end-to-end planning, scheduling, and execution of all utilities maintenance activities. This role drives asset reliability through data analysis, trend monitoring, and root cause investigation, implementing strategies to address recurring issues and enhance equipment uptime. The Lead is responsible for identifying and delivering productivity improvements, managing continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring effective coordination and communication among technicians, vendors, and stakeholders. A key champion for compliance, safety, and operational excellence, this position is pivotal to sustaining a proactive, high-performing utilities maintenance team.

The Utilities Maintenance Reliability & Scheduling Lead is responsible for the operational management and strategic advancement of all utility's maintenance activities at the site. This role integrates core scheduling and planning functions with maintenance reliability engineering, productivity optimization, and continuous improvement leadership. By systematically analysing asset performance, identifying recurring issues, and driving improvement initiatives, the Lead ensures optimal asset uptime, compliance, and the effective coordination of all internal and external stakeholders. This position is central in fostering a high-performance culture within the utilities department that's focused on safety, efficiency, and delivery of results.

Day to Day of the role;
  • Oversee the daily and weekly scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance activities using the site CMMS. Develop, prioritize, and communicate maintenance plans to optimize labour, equipment access, and operational continuity. Coordinate and plan equipment shutdowns, isolation points, and system handovers, minimizing disruptions for end users. Ensure all maintenance schedules align with Client Maintenance system and all vendor maintenance scheduled dates are up to date and scheduled as per plan.
  • Overall responsibility for operation of utilities helpdesk on a day-to-day basis. Monitor help desk requests and action appropriately. Lead utilities morning meeting, focusing on daily schedule upcoming work and impacts to both utilities and engineering. Ensure all vendors are managed from schedule point of view, access requirements and closure of all vendor reports when received. Updating of daily schedule using, requests received and planned maintenance activities. Ensure all requests are compliant and all pre-requisites for safety, operational are met. Coordinate both daily and shift technicians on weekly, monthly basis with issuing of preventative maintenance routines and corrective routines. Create corrective maintenance routines based on reactive maintenance from both existing routines and helpdesk requests.
  • Review and analyse the reliability of plant assets by monitoring maintenance trends, asset health indicators, and equipment histories. Lead root cause analysis for chronic failures and "bad actors," initiating corrective action plans and tracking implementation to closure. Drive adoption of reliability-focused maintenance strategies.
  • Identify and implement work management practices that increase maintenance productivity, such as job plan development, workflow standardization, pre- and post-maintenance reviews, and reduction of reactive maintenance. Monitor execution efficiency and propose enhancements to maintenance execution.
  • Analyses and reports on key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs), including work order backlog, PM completion rates, mean time between failure (MTBF), Mean time between repair (MTBR), and downtime causes. Highlight trends and recurring issues, preparing recommendations and action plans for leadership.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, leading focused initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime, optimize costs, enhance safety, and standardize high-impact practices. Engage the team in lean methodologies and best-practice sharing.
  • Serve as the principal liaison among contractors, vendors, project teams, engineers, and end users throughout the maintenance lifecycle. Ensure communication is timely, actions and responsibilities are clearly defined, and lessons learned are fed back into the maintenance process.
  • Review and approve Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS), Control of Hazardous Energy (COHE), and all related regulatory documentation for utilities maintenance work. Enforce high safety and compliance standards in all activities.
  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation and systematic recordkeeping in CMMS, including scheduling, open and closed work orders, reliability analyses, red tags, vendor reports, and continuous improvement projects. Develop new CMMS routines for new equipment, modify existing routines where required.
  • Routinely update office and team information boards with schedules, maintenance activities, safety notices, KPIs, and improvement activities. Respond promptly to team requests via email, phone, or text and proactively communicate issues and achievements. Consistently model professionalism, respect, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Maintain a training record for all team members, monitoring and updating when training is required or coming due
  • Ensure all off site training is managed and all team members informed of upcoming training
  • Manage all training records for each technician, ensuring renewal dates are met
  • Maintain an up to date CMMS system as per onsite procedures, create/maintain all utilities tracking information for training, vendors, spares, helpdesk, permitting and COHE. Develop new spreadsheets where required.
Skills & Qualifications Required for the role;
  • Third level qualification or equivalent, in maintenance management, reliability or industrial engineering
  • Advanced skills in computerized maintenance management, work order setup, scheduling, and analytics.
  • Technical expertise in utilities systems, maintenance practices, reliability engineering, and CMMS tools.
  • Experience in reliability-centered maintenance, failure analysis, and trend reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and sustain improvement projects (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, TPM).
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, RAMS, COHE, red tagging, and industry standards.
  • Skilled in clear, professional engagement with internal and external parties.
  • Able to manage priorities efficiently, maintain high attention to detail, and keep accurate records.
  • Proactive and analytical approach with strong follow-through on corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication skills both Verbal and Written.
