Citi is seeking a UI Technical Lead for the Lightspeed frontend team in Dublin. The role balances hands-on coding with leadership, code reviews, mentorship and driving the UI architecture from idea to delivery.

You will work with Product, Design, Backend and Platform teams, champion AI-assisted development, and own the component library while ensuring high-quality, secure code across the Lightspeed UI.

The UI chapter is building a modern, scalable frontend experience at the heart of the platform. We’re an engineering-led team that values ownership, collaboration and fresh thinking — including finding smart ways to use AI to improve how we build software.## The RoleWe’re looking for a UI Technical Lead – Frontend Engineering to own the architectural direction and engineering quality of the Lightspeed UI chapter.This is a hands-on technical leadership role with a deliberate balance between engineering and leadership. You’ll spend a significant part of your time writing production code, alongside leading code reviews, mentoring the team and providing technical direction. You’ll also play an active role in the day-to-day running of the team and wider technical responsibilities. You’ll have the autonomy to identify technical opportunities, tackle debt before it becomes a problem and shape the platform for the future. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Backend and Platform Engineering, acting as the technical voice for the UI and driving high-quality engineering outcomes from idea through to delivery.## Key Responsibilities* Own and evolve the frontend architecture, standards and engineering practices across Lightspeed.* Build production software across complex features, architectural improvements and performance initiatives.* Proactively identify and address technical debt, architectural risks and opportunities for improvement.* Lead technical design and code reviews, raising engineering standards while mentoring the team.* Own the component library and design system integration for the Lightspeed UI.* Champion effective use of AI-assisted development, ensuring generated code is understood, tested, secure and maintainable.* Partner with Backend and Platform Engineering on integration patterns and CI/CD technologies including Tekton, Jenkins, Harness and TeamCity.* Own technical Jira work, proactively creating and driving bugs, technical changes and architectural improvements through to completion.* Work closely with Product and Design to ensure technical priorities, dependencies and risks remain visible.* Mentor UI Developers and contribute to the team’s technical and career development.## Key Skills & Experience* Strong track record in frontend engineering and technical leadership, with the ability to influence architecture and engineering direction.* Deep hands-on expertise in modern Angular; the Lightspeed application currently runs on Angular v21.* Expert TypeScript skills, including advanced types, generics and compiler configuration.* Strong software engineering fundamentals, including SOLID, design patterns and clean architecture.* Production experience with React and modern frontend development practices.* Strong understanding of frontend architecture, including micro-frontends, Module Federation, Nx and scalable state management.* Expert Git knowledge and experience working with CI/CD, monorepos and collaborative code review.* Proven ability to proactively identify and resolve technical debt and architectural challenges.* Experience contributing to or owning a shared component library or design system.* Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools, with a strong focus on validating and testing output.* Comfortable working in Jira and Kanban environments, taking ownership of technical work without waiting to be directed.* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Product and Design.* An open, curious mindset and willingness to challenge existing approaches and explore better ways of working.## What Would Set You Apart:We’re interested in people who bring more than technical expertise — people who challenge the status quo, think beyond the immediate problem and genuinely care about how software is built.
