Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 within UCD School of Earth Sciences.

This research-focused role will advance the characterisation and 3D modelling of geothermal systems in Ireland, the UK and elsewhere in the EU, focusing on limestone-shale host rocks and deep hot sedimentary aquifers (HSAs). The successful candidate will integrate multi-scale data to develop a suite of static and dynamic geothermal reservoir models, as input for the SEAI ThermStore-DH and the CET GEOGUARD projects. This work directly contributes to the School of Earth Sciences' goal of establishing evidence-based risk management and suitability assessments for geothermal energy deployment in Ireland and elsewhere.

IMP. Note for Applicants / Particular to this position:

• This role is full time based in UCD School of Earth Sciences in Dublin.
• In addition to providing a detailed CV and contact details for 2 referees, applicants are required to submit a 2-page maximum (12 point) 'letter of motivation'. This letter should detail how their experience and skills address the criteria required for this post.
• This position is advertised as a split level PD1 / PD2 post. Applicants with fewer than 2 years of prior postdoctoral experience at the time of application will only be considered for appointment at Postdoctoral Researcher Level 1. Applicants are asked to indicate in their covering letter which level they wish to be considered for.

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The PD2 post is intended for researchers who have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
