Job Description:

Now, we're looking for a Transport Manager to join our team. This role will play a key part in the overall growth of the organisation along with helping to maintain our core ethos here at Sysco - keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Managing/leading the transport management and distribution team
  • Coordination of all transport activities ensuring the smooth running of depot
  • Responsible for efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers on a daily basis
  • Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team
  • Effectively liaising with sales, transport, and operation departments to resolve all issues in a timely manner
  • Working with our Sales teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery schedules
  • Ensuring delivery procedures and policies are adhered to at all times, equipment breakdown and repairs are minimised and reported, and the premises are maintained to the highest standards
  • Responsible for ensuring all company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand
  • Manage Backhaul collections and ensure they are adhered to on a daily basis
  • Managing Transport Compliance to industry leading standards
  • Identify, coordinate and deliver training as appropriate
  • Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent and unbiased manner

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive multi-drop distribution operation
  • Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous
  • Must possess a full Drivers Licence, Management CPC advantageous
  • Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service
  • Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business
  • Ability to plan and organise your own and your team's work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data
  • Fluent English - reading and writing
  • High level of flexibility and problem solving
  • Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area
