Job summary

Jones Engineering in Cork is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support our project development and tendering processes. You will work with the Bid Manager and a multidisciplinary team to deliver large-scale Transmission and Distribution projects from Cork office.

The role offers junior to mid-level exposure, in-house training, and the chance to develop expertise in LV, MV and HV tender packages, subcontract quotes and take-offs.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy.
• Transmission & Distribution project experience is a plus.
• Experience in construction/engineering/utilities is advantageous.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills required.
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
• Proficiency with MS Office is required.
• In-house training is provided for this junior role.

Responsibilities

• Tendering on large-scale Transmission & Distribution projects.
• Handle full tender process from start to finish.
• Prepare LV, MV & HV tender packages.
• Liaise with internal and external parties on an ongoing basis.
• Attend pre- and post-tender interviews.
• Assemble subcontract quotes meeting the spec.
• Attend meetings with clients and internal teams.
• Complete take-offs from tender drawings.
• Use estimating software packages.

Job Description

As Electrical Estimator, you will play a role in our project development and implementation process. You will work closely with the Bid Manager as well as a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industry experts to deliver cutting-edge projects. Current requirements allow for a base in our Cork office.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Tendering on a variety of large-scale projects in the Transmission & Distribution sector.
• Involved in full tender process from beginning to completion.
• Electrical LV, MV & HV tender packages.
• Liaising with relevant parties on an on-going basis.
• Attending pre and post tender interviews.
• Assemble sub-contract quotes while ensuring they comply with the spec.
• Attend meetings both internal and client based where required.
• Completing take-offs from tender drawings.
• Using estimating software packages.

This role will provide exposure to a wide range of projects. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge and skills as their responsibilities grow and evolve.

Skills and Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Degree Qualification / Graduate in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or Construction Management considered.
• Trade background may also be considered with Transmission & Distribution project experience.
• Experience in construction / engineering / utilities is advantageous.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office systems required.
• Demonstrated appetite for continuous learning and personal development.
• As this is a junior role, in-house training will be provided.
