Trading Manager

Location: Cork

Type: Full-time | Permanent

A leading retail business is seeking a Trading Manager to join its dynamic commercial team in Cork. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially savvy professional with a passion for food and a strong understanding of product sourcing, pricing, and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a defined product portfolio to drive growth, profitability, and market share.
  • Develop and execute annual trading plans and category strategies aligned to brand and business objectives.
  • Source products of the right quality, at the right price, ensuring excellent availability and value.
  • Negotiate supplier terms and manage relationships through Joint Business Plans.
  • Lead own-brand product sourcing in collaboration with development teams.
  • Monitor and optimise margins, pricing, and product performance.
  • Track food trends and develop consumer-relevant offers across retail formats.
  • Support retail implementation and lead cross-functional commercial projects.

About You:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a commercial trading, buying or procurement role (retail/FMCG preferred).
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Passion for food and knowledge of current food and market trends.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proactive, well-organised, and results-oriented.
  • Degree or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the Irish and/or UK grocery sector is an advantage.
