Overview

Graduate Trading Analyst

Newbridge

The purpose of this role is to support the BnM Trading team in ensuring efficient trading operations and the successful delivery of key projects. The BnM Trading team are energy market and commodity experts, who foster a strong spirit of collaboration and continuous development in a fast paced environment of day to day operations. This hybrid (2 office days, 3 remote days) role will focus on providing insights on competitors and market outcomes and market changes, supporting the business to meet objectives and maximise commercial returns. Success in this role will be contributing to BnM tackling climate change, helping to build a better future and meeting Ireland’s renewable targets.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the day to day trading activities of the company, data provision and analytics, and report writing to support traders and trading strategies aimed at maximise commercial returns for a diverse portfolio of generation assets, including dispatchable thermal, wind, solar and battery under a variety of contract structures.
  • Support BnM Trading team in impact assessments and preparations for future market changes, for example EirGrid’s Future Power Markets programme of work.
  • Maintain and develop models used by the BnM Trading team, including but not limited to power price forecasting models, power system operation models. Document processes and procedures to support business continuity and best practice.
  • Build and cultivate productive working relationships externally with industry working groups (e.g. EirGrid, SEMO, ESI, WEI, Solar Ireland) and project stakeholders. Participate in the Wind Energy Ireland Graduate Programme, and BnM Graduate events.
  • Work with the wider BnM team to support the evaluation, onboarding of new projects, and for operational assets. The BnM Trading team regularly interacts with the Commercial, and Asset Management teams presenting the opportunity to gain experience across different areas of the business.
  • Regularly communicate developments in the wholesale energy market to relevant commercial and financial teams, providing insights that inform decision-making.
  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises.
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives.
The Person

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Third level degree (min 2:1 classification) in a discipline with a high level of numerical, analytical and/or financial content. (Commerce, Economics, Finance, Science, Energy, Sustainability)
  • Power System Operations, Renewable Energy Systems, Trading, Commodity Trading and Experience with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, SQL, Python desirable.
