Job summary

Bon Secours Hospital Tralee invites applications for a Therapy Assistant in the Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy team. This full-time permanent post covers 39 hours per week and provides development opportunities and flexible working arrangements.

The role involves caseload management, direct patient support, documentation, and collaboration with therapists to implement treatment plans under supervision. QQI Level 5 Health Care is required, and access to transport is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have QQI Level 5 Health Care Certification.
• Access to own car/transport is essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload in accordance with the needs of the post.
• Work directly with patients under the direction of Therapy Staff to provide intervention.
• Collaborate with service users, family, carers and staff in treatment planning and in the provision of support and advice.
• Carry out duties related to therapy programmes as directed by the Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Dietician.
• Maintain accurate records of service user assessments and interventions.
• Record intervention outcomes and report to the therapy supervisor.
• Maintain clinical notes in service user files in line with local protocols.
• Maintain professional standards re consent, confidentiality, ethics and legislation.
• Assist in organising, maintaining and ordering equipment and materials used in assessment and treatment.
• Keep IT records up-to-date (word, Excel).

Therapy Assistant – Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy

Full-time Permanent Post – 39 hours per week

Applications are invited to apply for the Position of Therapy Assistant – Permanent post 39 hours per week contract. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated & enthusiastic candidate who will work in our Physiotherapy & Occupational Department as a Therapy Assistant.

The candidate must possess the following at a minimum:

• Manage own caseload in accordance with the needs of the post.
• Work directly with patients under the direction of Therapy Staff to provide intervention in both individual and group settings.
• Collaborate with service users, family, carers and staff in treatment planning and in the provision of support and advice.
• Carry out duties related to therapy programmes as directed by the Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Dietician.
• Maintain accurate records of service user assessments and interventions.
• Record intervention outcomes as appropriate and report outcomes to the therapy supervisor.
• Maintain clinical notes relating to clinical work in service user files in accordance with local service protocols.
• Maintain professional standards in relation to consent, confidentiality, ethics and legislation.
• Arrange and carryout duties in a timely manner.
• Assist in the organisation, maintenance and / or ordering of equipment and materials used in assessment and treatment, in conjunction with Therapists.
• Comply with department procedures with regard to recommendation and provision of all assistive equipment / custom made devices.
• Keep up-to-date statistics and other administrative records as required within the Therapy department. This will require basic IT work including word and excel packages.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

QQI Level 5 Health Care Certification

Due to the multi-site nature of the role, access to a car is essential.

Desirable:

QQI Level 5 Therapy Assistant Certification

A good level if IT knowledge and proficiency

Candidates must have access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.
