Job summary

Corlann in Galway invites applications for a TEMPORARY FULL TIME Therapy Assistant to support children aged 0-18 and their families within the Children’s Disability Network Team.

The post is a Specific Purpose Full-time appointment with a salary scale €36,651 - €45,939 pro-rata; duties include providing supports in an interdisciplinary, family-centred framework and reporting to the CND Manager.

Qualifications

  • Possess QQI (FETAC) Level 5 Health Service Skills or an equivalent qualification.
  • Be able to discharge duties with personal competence and capacity.
  • Full clean Irish driving licence and access to a car desirable; commitment to obtaining full licence within nine months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of supports to children aged 0-18 and their families within an interdisciplinary, family-centred framework.
  • Work under supervision reporting to the Children’s Disability Network Manager and contribute to service delivery.

Job Title: Therapy Assistant

CORLANN – WEST REGION

Location: Woodlands Campus, Dublin Rd. Galway

Tenure: Specific Purpose Full time and pensionable linked on a specific purpose basis to new funding.

Remuneration: Department of Health, Health & Social Care Assistant 01/06/2026 - salary scale - € 36,651 x 8 increments - € 45,939 pro-rata per annum.

Purpose of the post: To provide a range of supports to children from 0-18 years of age and their families who are supported by the Network Disability Team, within an interdisciplinary framework and family centred practice.

Reporting Relationship: The post holder will report to the Children’s Disability Network Manager (CNDM)

Qualifications: Candidates must: (i) Possess the relevant Health Service Skills QQI (FETAC) Level 5. Or (ii) Have obtained an equivalent qualification to (i) from another jurisdiction. Or (iii) Be currently employed as a Physiotherapy/ Speech & language Assistant or in a comparable role. And b) Candidates must have the personal competence and capacity to properly discharge the duties of the role.

A full clean Irish driving licence and use of your own car is desirable. A commitment to obtaining a full licence within nine months of commencement is required.

Fluency in verbal and written English an essential requirement of this post.

Experience:

  • Candidates have experience of working with children with complex needs (for example autism, physical & medical complex needs, behaviours of concern).
  • Experience in the use of TEACCH, Lámh and other forms of AAC is an advantage.

Working Hours:

  • 70 hours a fortnight.

Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am – 8pm from Monday to Friday.

A family centred approach to service delivery and the ongoing transformation of the health service will require employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

The Health Service is undergoing ongoing modernisation and therefore it is critical that a flexible attitude to changing environments and work requirements is held by the successful candidate.

Annual Leave:

  • 23 days per annum.

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the employer’s discretion.
