Job summary

IQVIA in Dublin, Ireland is seeking a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to transform our Linux infrastructure from manual support to automated, IaC-driven operations. You will help design scalable, reliable systems and apply modern automation to improve performance and availability.

You will join a cross-functional team to develop real-world automation solutions, monitor system health, and streamline operational efficiency across large, distributed environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (Oracle Linux /RHEL/CentOS/)
  • Strong scripting and programming skills: Bash, Python, and/or Go
  • Experience with automation frameworks: Puppet, Ansible, Foreman, and/or Katello
  • Code repository methodologies utilizing tools such as git.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware) and identity management (Centrify), Windows AD.
  • Familiarity with database systems: Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a team of Linux Engineers to help the transformation of our global Linux infrastructure from reactive support to proactive automation, monitoring system health, configurations, and provisioning with a holistic view of the entire environment.
  • Help set KPIs relating to goals for the team from year to year based on what is required by IQVIA to get the job done.
  • Design and build automation frameworks, tooling, and infrastructure-as-code solutions to eliminate manual processes and enable self-service capabilities across the platform.
  • Enhance system reliability, consistency, and deployment velocity through automated configuration management, orchestration, and standardised operational practices.
  • Measure and optimize system performance while developing automation strategies that scale ahead of customer needs, reduce operational toil, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide engineering expertise and operational support for multiple large-scale, distributed Linux environments, building repeatable solutions that reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.

IQVIA is looking to transform our ETS Linux operations from manual support to a modern framework built on automation and infrastructure as code.

We count on our Linux Systems Engineers to empower our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance to pursue their missions. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to help join in modernizing our infrastructure through automation, orchestration, and scalable system design. Specifically, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world automation solutions and streamline operational efficiency at every level.

What you'll do:

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
  • Gather and analyse metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline.
