Job summary

IQVIA in Dublin, Ireland, seeks a seasoned Linux Systems Engineer to transform our Linux operations from manual support to automation and infrastructure-as-code. You’ll join a cross-functional team to design scalable, proactive systems and deliver self-service capabilities across platforms.

Responsibilities include building automation frameworks, improving reliability, and guiding performance through metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other highly technical discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (Oracle Linux /RHEL/CentOS/).
• Strong scripting and programming skills: Bash, Python, and/or Go.
• Experience with automation frameworks: Puppet, Ansible, Foreman, and/or Katello.
• Code repository methodologies utilizing tools such as git.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware) and identity management (Centrify), Windows AD.
• Familiarity with database systems: Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to automation and proactive automation of Linux infrastructure.
• Help set KPIs related to team goals.
• Design and build automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
• Enhance reliability and deployment velocity through automated configuration management and orchestration.
• Measure and optimize system performance and develop scalable automation strategies.
• Provide engineering support for large-scale distributed Linux environments.
• Gather and analyze metrics to aid performance tuning and fault finding.
• Partner with development teams to improve services through testing and release procedures.
• Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
• Create sustainable systems and services through automation.
