Job summary

Sun Life seeks a motivated university student to join our technology foundation team as an intern in Waterford. In a hybrid role, you will gain hands-on experience in application support, data support, and performance management/site reliability engineering.

You will work with IT, development and operations colleagues to learn cloud-based infrastructure, monitoring and troubleshooting, while developing programming and scripting skills in Python, SQL and Java.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with basic programming concepts and scripting languages (Python, SQL).
• Exposure to cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide application support: monitor, troubleshoot and maintain core business applications.
• Offer data support: data extraction, transformation and analysis.
• Explore infrastructure cloud exposure: deployment, configuration and monitoring of cloud-based infra.
• Collaborate with IT, development and operations teams to understand the technology landscape.
• Contribute to continuous improvement: suggest process optimizations and system enhancements.
• Participate in training and development sessions to expand technical knowledge.

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and curious individual to join our technology foundation team as an intern. In this hybrid role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of our technology operations, including application support, data support, and Performance management /Site Reliability engineer.

Eligibility:

Eligibility: These internship opportunities are open exclusively to current third-year degree students who are required to complete an internship or work placement as a mandatory part of their degree program/coursework. Applicants must be returning to their studies following the internship and be able to provide confirmation from their educational institution that the placement forms part of their course requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide application support: Assist and gain exposure in the monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our core business applications.


• Offer data support: Participate in data management tasks, such as data extraction, transformation, and analysis.


• Explore infrastructure cloud exposure: Gain experience in cloud-based infrastructure management, including deployment, configuration, and monitoring.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with our IT, development, and operations teams to understand the end-to-end technology landscape.


• Contribute to continuous improvement: Identify and suggest areas for process optimization and system enhancements.


• Participate in training and development: Engage in learning opportunities to expand your technical knowledge and skills.


• Participate in InternConnect learning sessions

Qualifications and Skills:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.


• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Interns in this position will work fully on-site at our Waterford office for the duration of their internship.
