This is a senior, hands-on role suited to a technically qualified professional with a strong background in facilities management, building services and team leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring all technical services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with the client, site leadership and regional technical teams, you will drive service excellence, improve operational performance, manage specialist contractors and identify opportunities to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of hard facilities management services, including planned and reactive maintenance, technical operations and energy management.
  • Ensure statutory and mandatory compliance across all technical services, maintenance activities and project works.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing technical team, providing leadership, coaching, training and performance management.
  • Oversee specialist contractors and subcontractors across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, BMS and building fabric services.
  • Manage small and medium-sized projects, including site surveys, quotations, repairs, variations, budgets and project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate asset registers, CAFM system data, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and lifecycle plans.
  • Monitor service performance against KPIs and SLAs, addressing operational issues and implementing continuous improvements.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, reporting, meetings and proactive service management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, environmental standards, risk assessments and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Drive energy efficiency initiatives, carbon reduction and sustainable operating practices.
  • Manage budgets, contractor performance and commercial targets while identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and support business growth.
  • Coordinate out-of-hours activities where required to minimise disruption to client operations.
  • A recognised qualification in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Significant experience managing technical services within a fast-paced facilities management environment.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering small and medium-sized project works in compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH health and safety qualification.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and managing performance.
  • Strong knowledge of building services, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, BMS and building fabric.
  • Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, maintenance programmes and project works.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage escalations and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, service KPIs, SLAs and compliance requirements.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Experience with complex HVAC systems, hybrid VRF systems or modern smart office technologies.
  • Knowledge of Legionella management and water quality management.
