Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician in Dublin 7 on a full-time, permanent basis. The role focuses on planned and reactive electrical maintenance across campus building services at the Grangegorman TU Dublin site.

You will perform testing, fault-finding and maintenance to support safe, compliant operations and work with the wider facilities team on BMS and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

  • Craft card required for consideration.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance or building services.
  • Electrical trade qualification (QQI, HND, NVQ or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition) or 2391 desirable.
  • IOSH, CSCS or Safe Pass or equivalent.
  • Experience using a CAFM system.
  • Experience in building maintenance organisation.
  • Basic multi-skilled knowledge across mechanical and building services.
  • Strong organisational skills and workload coordination.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance across electrical and building services.
  • Electrical testing including PAT.
  • Maintain lighting, building controls, small power, distribution and BMS.
  • Support mechanical building services (boilers, pumps, etc.).
  • Lead LV electrical installation works.
  • Use CAFM to manage tasks and updates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Provide technical advice for building maintenance.

Electrical Maintenance Technician

Location: Dublin 7, Republic of Ireland
Salary: €55,000 per annum
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

About the Role

Are you a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician with a strong electrical background and a good understanding of mechanical building services?

Sodexo is seeking a motivated, multi-skilled technician to join our growing PPP/PFI contract at the modern Grangegorman campus for TU Dublin.

This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a dynamic building services environment, supporting the safe, compliant and efficient operation of campus facilities.

You will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault-finding and electrical installations, while also supporting mechanical systems and building management technologies. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of health and safety, compliance and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault-finding, repairs and periodic inspections across electrical and building services systems.
  • Undertake electrical testing, including Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), and support the safe operation of electrical installations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot general lighting, building controls, small power, electrical distribution and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Support the inspection and maintenance of mechanical building services, including boilers, pumps, compressed air systems, fan coil units, air handling units and sanitary equipment.
  • Lead and carry out low-voltage (LV) electrical installation works.
  • Ensure reactive and corrective maintenance tasks are completed within agreed priority timescales.
  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, manufacturer recommendations, health and safety requirements and contractual standards.
  • Use Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems to receive, manage and update planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, maintenance processes and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical advice and practical solutions to support effective building maintenance.
About You

You are a practical, solutions-focused technician with strong electrical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently while supporting the wider facilities team.

Essential requirements:
  • You must have a craft card to be considered for this position.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar electrical maintenance or building services engineering role.
  • A relevant electrical trade qualification, such as QQI, HND, NVQ or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) or equivalent; City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing or equivalent is desirable within the stated qualification criteria.
  • IOSH qualification, CSCS card, Safe Pass or equivalent.
  • Experience using a CAFM system.
  • Experience working within a building maintenance organisation.
  • Basic multi-skilled knowledge across mechanical and building services disciplines.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate workloads.
  • Excellent fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks, work on your own initiative and operate with minimal supervision.
Desirable experience:
  • Previous appointment as an Authorised Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) in one or more of the following disciplines:
    • Low Voltage (LV)
    • Confined Spaces
    • Working at Heights
