Job summary

Abbott Ireland is seeking a passionate Technical Operations Manager to lead product performance, process excellence and innovation within a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment in Donegal Town.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, own complex projects from concept through execution, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality policies across equipment, processes and materials.

Qualifications

• Experience in life sciences, medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams focused on improving product performance, yield, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Own and deliver complex projects from concept through to execution, balancing timelines, costs, and quality.
• Support the successful introduction of new products into manufacturing.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to resolve product, process, and testing challenges.
• Drive validation activities including protocols, trials, studies, and reporting across equipment, processes, and materials.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards (e.g. FDA, BSI, internal policies).
• Develop and grow your team through coaching, mentoring, and meaningful development opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement effective, data-driven solutions.

The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.

Purpose of the Role

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and make sound decisions

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• A collaborative mindset and openness to different perspectives and ways of working
