Job summary

Medtronic Athlone is seeking to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Department, focusing on new product introductions (NPI) and product transfers into our controlled manufacturing environment. You will participate in developing robust processes, packaging design, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality medical devices on time.

The role requires a degree in engineering/science and hands-on experience with DFA/Lean Sigma, and manufacturing documentation.

Qualifications

  • 6 or higher qualification in Engineering or Science related discipline, with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with DFA (Design for Automation), Lean Sigma and analytical packages including Minitab is advantageous.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation (MP, IP, BOM, CDP, IQ, OQ, PQ).

Responsibilities

  • Support development and qualification of robust processes for new products.
  • Design packaging and labeling processes and layouts for assemblies, equipment.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement on NPI.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain quality documentation.

A Day in the Life

At our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Department in Medtronic Athlone, we focus on NPI (new product introduction) and Product Transfers of Medical Devices into our Controlled Manufacturing Environment. Manufacturing & Quality Engineers, Project Managers & Technicians are directly involved new product introductions, product transfers and validating/continuously improving product lines by ensuring time-efficient and cost-effective processes while maintaining overall product quality and compliance. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Working with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and supporting Operations teams to contribute to the development and qualification of robust processes for new products.
  • Aids in design of packaging and labelling processes, procedures and packaging layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling and fabrication of tools.
  • Designs arrangement of packaging and labelling machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layouts.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of packaging tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency.
  • Support technical root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Contributes to New Product Introduction (NPI) function to define, execute and deliver on NPI requirements.
  • Leads verification, validation, and implementation of package systems for both design and process development.
  • Develops technical documentation including design specs, input requirements, validations and technical reports in accordance with quality system requirements.
  • Utilises project management skills to gain alignment, lead cross functional teams, and drive continuous improvement projects that focus on “best in class” outcomes.
Key Skills & Experience Level
  • 6 or higher qualification in Engineering or Science related discipline , with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experienced in working with DFA (Design for Automation), Lean Sigma, Analytical packages incl. Minitab advantageous.
  • Experience working with manufacturing documentation (MP, IP, BOM, CDP, IQ, OQ, PQ).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate; word processing, spreadsheets, Solid works, AutoCad.
  • Knowledge of materials associated with medical devices such as polymers (nylons, PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, Pebax, PTFE, polycarbonate, films, Tyvek, etc.).
  • A dynamic team player who can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.
  • An effective and creative problem solver
  • Can work independently with general supervision.
  • Energetic, self-driven with a tenacious drive for results and motivated to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of projects in accordance with plant KPIs.
  • Well organized and resourceful.

Pay range / Rango salarial / Intervalo salarial /Fascia retributiva / Tranche de salaire / Gehaltsband / Salaribereik: Ireland: 39,200.00 EUR - 58,800.00 EUR | The final salary within this range will be determined based on objective, job-related criteria, including relevant experience, skills and qualifications, in accordance with our compensation framework.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).
