Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Ireland in Limerick, Castletroy, seeks a Team Leader Moulding Engineer to lead injection moulding operations and deliver process improvements. You will guide cross-functional teams, ensure equipment meets specifications, and support NPI to qualify new products.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 8 Honours Degree (B.Sc. or B.Eng.) in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a technical or engineering role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership within a production value stream for injection moulding operations.
  • Ensure moulding equipment meets company specifications, schedules and budgets.
  • Support NPI activities through process characterisation and stability runs to qualify new products and processes.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and improve OEE.
  • Drive identification and resolution of corrective and preventative actions for moulding process quality issues.
  • Apply data-driven decision making and structured problem-solving to resolve process challenges.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time and cost-effectively.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple engineering projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment, systems and process issues using advanced statistical techniques.
  • Communicate technical findings and project outcomes across the organisation.

Job Purpose

Our Injection Moulding Engineering team supports exciting and innovative manufacturing value streams. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team, providing technical leadership in process improvement initiatives, resolving complex moulding process challenges, and supporting both internal and site-wide projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership within a production value stream for injection moulding operations.
  • Ensure moulding equipment meets company specifications, schedules and budgets.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through process characterisation, challenge testing, process capability studies and stability runs to qualify new products and processes in line with the annual business plan.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Drive the identification and resolution of corrective and preventative actions associated with moulding process quality issues.
  • Apply data-driven decision making and structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve complex process challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, high-quality products to customers in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Manage, plan and coordinate multiple engineering projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment, systems and process issues using advanced statistical and analytical techniques.
  • Communicate technical findings and project outcomes across the organisation.
  • Stay current with emerging injection moulding technologies and engineering developments to drive breakthrough performance improvements.
  • Support the design, development, installation and validation of injection moulding equipment and processes.
  • Provide timely and accurate project reporting.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support daily manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and foster a high-performance team culture.
  • Develop and maintain a Credo and Behavioural Standards-based culture within the group.
  • Ensure timely closure of Quality System documentation, including Audit Actions, NCRs, CAPAs and related activities.
  • Support the implementation of engineering and plant strategic initiatives.
Education & Experience
Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 8 Honours Degree (B.Sc. or B.Eng.) in Physics, Chemistry, Biological Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment or a similar technical setting.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a technical or engineering role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using advanced statistical and problem-solving methodologies, such as:
    • Design of Experiments (DOE)
    • Process Capability Analysis
    • Hypothesis Testing
    • Six Sigma or Black Belt methodologies
  • Familiarity with equipment validation within a regulated FDA environment.
  • Strong project management skills, including FPx or equivalent methodologies.
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€63,300.00 - €101,315.00

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (percent of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
