Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Ireland, based in Castletroy, Limerick, seeks a Team Leader Moulding Engineer to drive technical leadership in injection moulding and process improvement.

You will lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, and champion data-driven problem solving to enhance quality and OEE across a high-precision manufacturing environment. A relevant engineering degree and hands-on manufacturing experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment or similar technical setting.
• Proven track record of delivering results in a technical or engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership within injection moulding production streams.
• Ensure moulding equipment meets specifications, schedules and budgets.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through process characterisation and stability runs.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and OEE.
• Drive corrective and preventative actions associated with moulding quality issues.
• Apply data-driven decision making and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.
• Manage, plan and coordinate multiple engineering projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment, systems and process issues using advanced statistical techniques.
• Communicate technical findings and project outcomes across the organisation.
• Stay current with emerging injection moulding technologies and engineering developments.
• Support the design, development, installation and validation of injection moulding equipment and processes.

Job Purpose

Our Injection Moulding Engineering team supports exciting and innovative manufacturing value streams. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team, providing technical leadership in process improvement initiatives, resolving complex moulding process challenges, and supporting both internal and site-wide projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership within a production value stream for injection moulding operations.
• Ensure moulding equipment meets company specifications, schedules and budgets.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through process characterisation, challenge testing, process capability studies and stability runs to qualify new products and processes in line with the annual business plan.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Drive the identification and resolution of corrective and preventative actions associated with moulding process quality issues.
• Apply data-driven decision making and structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve complex process challenges.
• Collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, high-quality products to customers in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Manage, plan and coordinate multiple engineering projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment, systems and process issues using advanced statistical and analytical techniques.
• Communicate technical findings and project outcomes across the organisation.
• Stay current with emerging injection moulding technologies and engineering developments to drive breakthrough performance improvements.
• Support the design, development, installation and validation of injection moulding equipment and processes.
• Provide timely and accurate project reporting.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support daily manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and foster a high-performance team culture.
• Develop and maintain a Credo and Behavioural Standards-based culture within the group.
• Ensure timely closure of Quality System documentation, including Audit Actions, NCRs, CAPAs and related activities.
• Support the implementation of engineering and plant strategic initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum Level 8 Honours Degree (B.Sc. or B.Eng.) in Physics, Chemistry, Biological Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment or a similar technical setting.
• Proven track record of delivering results in a technical or engineering role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using advanced statistical and problem-solving methodologies, such as:
  • Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Process Capability Analysis
  • Hypothesis Testing
  • Six Sigma or Black Belt methodologies
• Familiarity with equipment validation within a regulated FDA environment.
• Strong project management skills, including FPx or equivalent methodologies.
• Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.

The Anticipated Base Pay Range For This Position Is

€63,300.00 - €101,315.00
