Job summary

Downey Osborne in Dublin is seeking a Tax Associate for a leading international law firm. This role offers exposure to a broad range of complex domestic and international tax matters, with opportunities to work across financial services, corporate transactions, investment structures, cross-border tax planning and other commercial projects.

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer or accountant with up to four years of post-qualification experience.
  • Completed, or currently working towards, the Chartered Tax Adviser qualification.
  • Experience working within tax in a recognised law firm, accountancy practice or professional services environment.
  • Financial services tax experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong tax technical knowledge and a genuine interest in developing your expertise.
  • Excellent written, drafting and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a collaborative team.
  • Calm, measured approach when managing complex or time-sensitive matters.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior tax professionals in advising domestic and international clients on a broad range of tax matters.
  • Provide tax advice in relation to financial and commercial transactions.
  • Assist with technical research, analysis and the preparation of tax advice.
  • Work directly with clients and collaborate with colleagues across different specialist areas.
  • Develop a strong understanding of relevant tax legislation, regulations and market developments.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues, senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Provide support across areas such as corporate tax, investment structures, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions and other complex commercial matters.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of technical documents, client advice and transaction-related materials.
  • Work alongside other specialist teams to provide integrated and commercially focused advice.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training, mentoring and professional development.

About You:
