Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking an EHS Officer for a Galway-based production company committed to safety and environmental responsibility. You will lead the Health & Safety Management System, conduct site inspections and risk assessments, and deliver training to promote a positive safety culture.

The role involves occasional travel to Birr and Mitchelstown, supporting environmental initiatives and sustainability reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Health & Safety, Sustainability or related discipline.
• At least 1 year’s experience in an EHS, environmental or health and safety role.
• Manual Handling Trainer certification.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the company’s Health & Safety Management System.
• Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and internal audits to ensure compliance with Irish legislation and company standards.
• Deliver safety training, including manual handling, and promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Support environmental and sustainability strategy by monitoring energy usage, waste, water consumption and carbon-reduction initiatives.
• Lead sustainability reporting and support environmental improvement and certification programmes.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with regulatory bodies, insurers and other relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.
