Job summary

FRS Recruitment is assisting a busy Galway City pharmacy to recruit a Support Pharmacist to aid the Managing Pharmacist in daily dispensary operations. The role involves four days per week with weekend work to ensure coverage.

You will dispense prescriptions, advise on OTC medicines, manage stock levels, and support health schemes while supervising in the Managing Pharmacist's absence. Strong communication and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of statutory regulations.
• Ability to work proactively and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Dispense prescriptions in line with the Pharmacy Acts 2007 & 2008 and maintain accurate records.
• Provide expert advice on over-the-counter medicines and ensure compliance with counter-prescribing procedures.
• Manage and monitor stock levels, storage, and expiry dates.
• Oversee Department of Health Schemes (DPS, LTI, GMS), including submissions and payment reconciliations.
• Ensure all health, safety, and hygiene standards are met.
• Supervise the pharmacy in the absence of the Managing Pharmacist.
• Support training, staff development, and health promotion initiatives.
